My name is Sophie and my husband is Keith. We have three daughters; Lola, Betsy and Willow. We have lived in and around West London for 20 years. We have been in Richmond since 2004. In July 2017 we left our home, jobs and schools to travel around the world for a family gap year, returning in July 2018. I am co-owner of a Consultancy whose purpose is to evolve leaders and organisations to become a force for good in the world. Keith is a property developer. Due to Keith's passions for architecture, house building and design, we have moved around a little, each time renovating our properties. We have lived in this house since 2010 and renovated it completely before moving in and again in 2016. We enjoy travelling with the children and even more so having now explored 19 countries on our world trip. We are now keen to explore parts of the world we haven't visited as well as some of our favourite destinations in Southern Europe. We enjoy staying in relaxed yet design-led, family friendly places.

Sophie was a perfect host, and her beautiful home was a perfect holiday stay. Everything went so smoothly, from the preparations beforehand, the onsite welcome and walk through, and responsiveness to ad-hoc queries during the stay. The home had much to offer in terms of comfort, style and entertainment, and was conveniently located to many places of interest, quaint pubs, great cafes and a children's playground. When we didn't walk, we used the super convenient bus service right on our doorstep. Lots of special times and happy memories exploring Richmond from this home - thanks Sophie! xox

Truly the best family vacation we have had and mostly due to this beautiful home. The photos don't do the home justice and the location is so convenient. Sophie provided us with so many great Richmond tips before we even arrived as well as always being available for any questions once we were in the home. And there were so many books, toys and playthings made available to our kids. They were in heaven. We will definitely be staying here again.

We had THE. BEST. STAY at the Marchmont Residence. Sophie and her family were incredibly welcoming, helpful and kind to us. The house is gorgeous and immaculately clean. The yard and trampoline was a HUGE hit with our toddlers and it was awesome to have a lovely outdoor space to play and enjoy. We fell in love with the village in Richmond and hope to be back as soon as we can!

The Marchmont Residence was a true pleasure to visit! Sophie was very communicative from the start, offering detailed house notes and local suggestions, and made checking in a breeze. She left a basket of basic groceries (and treats), which meant we didn't have to make our usual first-day trip to the store. The location worked out perfectly, with a bus stop, train/underground station, bakeries, pubs, restaurants, gardens, and shops all super close. Though we came to see London, one of our favourite days was playing pingpong and jumping on the trampoline at the house, followed by a trip to the Kew Gardens one train stop away. Marchmont was clean, spacious, comfortable, and a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing in the city. We would happily return on our next trip to London!

We traveled to the Larchmont House from LA with two little ones under the age of 5, and had a fantastic experience. The location is incredible - there's a great playground within a 10 minute walk that's adjacent to a pub with glorious food. There's a grocery a very short (10 min!) drive away. There's a theatre and coffee shop within walking distance, a great deli too. The neighborhood is wonderful to just stroll through as well. The house though...man, we LOVED the house. The photos for this house do not do it justice, and these are beautiful photos. Staying here made us rethink how to design our own home, it's that great. The kitchen, dining and living room were all family friendly and with the fully opening glass doors that pull all the way back, utilizing the outdoor space was incredible. Let alone that awesome trampoline and play structure at the back of the yard. Beds were comfortable, the two little ones dug right into all the toys and books and were so happy. Enough space and comforts for all (love the coffee machine!). Working with the owner was a breeze, Sophie made our stay more than fantastic. Detailed instructions on how to use all the appliances, a great cleaner was offered (and used!) and Sophie available via phone and text for any issues (which were nearly none, except when we set off the alarm on accident). The welcome basket was a lovely touch and we felt comfortable being there. We definitely want to book Larchmont again, it was perfect.

Richmond, London

Room to breathe

Richmond is a town in its own right around 15 minutes by fast train southwest of London. Expect great shopping, friendly restaurants and a plethora of things to do with the kids, from feeding the ducks at the London Wetlands Centre nearby, exploring Kew Gardens, boating on the Thames and spotting red and fallow deer in Richmond Park.
