Perks for the Parents

Just a few minutes away from Montmartre and the Opera house, this beautiful Hausmannian Parisian apartment was recently fully renovated and offers a wonderful Parisian experience. With parquet floors, iron railings and original fireplaces, it conjures up an air of classic Paris, but with toys, games and equipment to make travel with babies and younger children really easy.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment has plenty of toys and books for kids under 10. There is a very large living room where children can have fun. It is located in a cul-de-sac, with a lovely bar to have a drink while your kids play football, skateboard, or jump rope. It's a short walk (5 minutes) from a local playground. There are 2 kids rooms, one with a crib and single bed and the other with a bunk bed.

Things to Know

The minimum stay for this apartment is 3 days. The residence is very safe and secure and is on the fifth and top floor of the apartment building. There is a mezzanine level with stairs leading to the master bedroom but no stair gate. There is no elevator in this building but the stairs are not steep. The apartment has views of a large tree-filled courtyard, the sky and the city rooftops.

About the Location

In the 9th arrondissement, a 10-minute walk from the Moulin Rouge, Montmartre, Opéra Garnier and Galeries Lafayette, and 20 minutes from the Latin Quarter. There are 3 Metro stations a 7 minute walk away (Place de Clichy, Liège and Trinité). Car hire is not required. Charles de Gaulle Airport and Paris Orly Airport are 35 minutes away, while the Gare du Nord for Eurostar is 11 minutes away.

Accommodation Details

This apartment has 3 bedrooms, an old-style cozy bathroom with tub, a laundry room with laundry machine and dryer, a kitchen-diner, a living room and a separate toilet. The parental bedroom is on a mezzanine level with skylights and stairs up to it. One children’s room has a bunk bed and an ensuite bathroom with tub while the other has a crib and a single bed.

Style Notes

Calm, elegant and 100% Parisian. The apartment has classic Haussmannian features including hardwood floors, marble fireplaces, moldings and an extra large bay window. We love the round dining table in the kitchen-diner - ideal for family suppers - and the light and air throughout. The main bathroom has a stunning black roll top bathtub and is stunning and sophisticated.

Perrine (architect) and I (food reporter) live and raise our three boys in this apartment in Paris, while also spending time in Brittany and Provence where our parents have summer houses. We love our charming, warm and quiet Parisian apartment, where our children like to play. With the family, we also like having a breakfast in the café down the street, going to the outdoors market on Sundays to buy flowers, vegetables, cheeses and more, as well as relaxing in the nearby playgrounds, going to the cinema, to art exhibitions at Le Louvre muséum and many other nearby places. Overall, a typical Parisian way of life in a typically Parisian apartement!

I can't say enough good things about Jermone's residence. We loved everything about our stay. It's located in a quiet, private and safe neighborhood and everything is super close and accessible by metro. The apartment iteself is beautiful and bright! Full of everything you could need or want for kids and adults. Can't recommend it enough, we will definitely be back!

We had an excellent stay. The apartment is very large, with ample seating for everyone to relax. The kitchen is large and well equipped, you can easily make full meals any time you would like. There is also a microwave. 2 bathrooms allow for a lot of people to stay. Washing facilities are excellent. The apartment is on the 5th floor, which makes for a lot of stairs to climb at the end of the day, but also makes the apartment very bright and sunny. We had a couple of hot days and there was a fan provided in the loft bedroom. Our host was very communicative and very helpful. I bought some basic groceries before we arrived and provided a list with suggestions for places to visit and eat. Jerome was a great host! One thing to note, the bathroom have tubs only with hand held shower heads and no shower curtains. For North Americans this sitting while showering and not getting the washroom soaked can be challenging. Only one of the tubs has a plug to run a bath. I would stay again at the Cardinal residence, not only is the apartment large and comfortable, it nicely designed, unique and in a great location.

Saint-Georges, The 9th arrondissement

Family-friendly and central

Another area of central Paris, Saint-Georges is safe and within walking distance of the Louvre, Montmartre and the Tuileries. It’s popular with families and has local parks, restaurants, fine grocery stores and boutiques just a stone’s throw away. It’s also well connected with the rest of the city by metro.
