Perks for the Parents

This peaceful Provencal villa in the south of France, has a serene swimming pool and easy access to the traditional village of Saint Rémy. It sleeps 6 + 2. Located within a 1 hectare park and olive groves, this residence boasts picturesque views of the Alpilles mountains from the pool and garden. Spend your days lounging around the pool with wines from the nearby vineyards, sampling the local delicacies from the Saint Rémy farmer’s market, or enjoying al fresco family meals under the shady pergola. The house offers easy access to challenging (and picturesque) hiking trails into the hills, as well as bikes for exploring the region, so it’s a great place for families who love the great outdoors.

Why Kids Love it

This vacation home is ideal for kids of all ages. There’s plenty of space for soccer games on the big lawn, and they’ll find equipment for badminton, croquet and ping pong matches too. Kids can play out on the trampoline, splash around in the pool, or try out the host’s toys. There are 2 kids bikes for cycling out with parents into the nearby village, and it’s just 15 minutes’ drive to the L’Arche de Méo animal park.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights in low season, 5 nights in mid season, 7 nights in high season. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 4EUR per adult per night, depending on location). Safety notes: the house is safe for children but the pool is located right on the terrace. (The hosts have life jackets for children and there is an alarm at the poo, which is not heatedl.) The house is secured by an automatic gate. There are steps up to the terrace so young children should be supervised here. The fireplace has a fire guard. Parking is available for 5 cars - car rental is recommended to explore the area, or the host can arrange a private driver. The house has WiFi and air conditioning throughout, as well as a home cinema with a Smart TV (French and English channels) and a bluetooth audio system. There are bikes available for guests to borrow, but please make sure that they are locked when you are visiting the local areas. Sorry - no pets.

About the Location

The house is located just outside the popular village of Saint Rémy in Provence, France. It’s close to beautiful natural sites (such as the Lac du Barreau, 2 minutes walk) or the archaeological site of Glanum. The village of Saint Rémy is 2 minutes by car or a few minutes by bike, where there is a range of local stores, bakeries, markets and eateries. The surrounding landscape offers stunning views of the Alpilles mountains and there are many hiking and biking trails available from the house. The beaches of Saintes Maries de la Mer, capital of the Camargue, are only 1 hour away; the creeks of Cassis are 1.5 hours’ drive; Arles is 25 minutes away; and Aix en Provence is 1 hour away. It’s 1 hour from Marseille airport and 20 minutes’ drive to TGV train station in Avignon.

Accommodation Details

The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, all set on 1 floor. There’s a spacious living/dining room with a beautiful fireplace and large dining table, leading to a fully-equipped kitchen. This area has doors opening out on to the terrace. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed; the other 2 bedrooms have queensize beds. The hosts also have 1 crib and 1 travel crib. (1 of the bathrooms has a bathtub, the other 2 have walk-in showers.) Outside, there is a large deck around the pool, as well as an outdoor dining space with a BBQ, lounging chairs for relaxing and a large grassy lawn.

Style Notes

Charming countryside villa. Bright and spacious, the open plan layout of the living spaces creates a relaxed, laid-back feel. Traveling parents will love the well-equipped kitchen (it boasts a Massimo coffee maker, traditional coffee maker and 4-ring induction plate) and the tranquil lounging areas around the pool. We love the grand fireplace in the living room, the rustic wooden furniture and the quirky dog artwork.

I am in love with Provence. I love the blue of the sky, the heat in Summer, the cold in Winter..the food, the people.. Al the properties I managed have been carefully chosen and all of them are kids friendly. I know my region by heart and I can help you to plan your holidays. For your kids, many activities, potery, art classes, cooking classes, climb tree experiences, fishing, canoeing etc.. For you, parents: Wine tour, Air tour above Provence and Luberon, cooking class or private chef at home, perfume making etc..

Artists, sunshine and good living

Twelve miles south of Avignon, this beautiful Provençal village embodies all that is great about the area; art, good living and sunshine. Vincent Van Gogh lived here for a time; it’s also the birthplace of Nostradamus. Explore the Roman ruins nearby after browsing chocolate shops and playing in rivers beside flower-filled meadows.
