Perks for the Parents

This beachy Mission Hills cottage is walking distance to restaurants and theatres, close to Balboa Park and San Diego zoo, and set up for kids with toys and baby equipment on request. It particularly suits families with 2-4 children, and has 2 bedrooms plus sleeper sofas in the living room. Enjoy an easy stay in the city, close to all the key attractions and a short drive from the airport. Within easy walking distance you'll find Lazy Acres, a natural food grocery store, Patio, a restaurant, and Venissimo Cheese Shop.

Why Kids Love it

This cute turquoise cottage is great for kids, with enough space to play and optional pack’n’play, kids toys and books on request. If you need anything for your kids, just ask the host! The best of San Diego is within a 10-minute drive - Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo are 10 minutes away by car, and Mission Bay is around the same. Kids will love spotting La Jolla’s seals and sea lions, 20 minutes away. A short walk away, there is an outdoor movie theatre called Cinema Under The Stars, which shows new and classic films in the evenings, great for older kids.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. The residence is over 1 level so there are no stairs inside; there are a few steps up to the front door for access. It is cute and intimate, ideal for a small family. Car rental is useful but not essential; there is on-street parking nearby and a paid parking lot on the corner of the street. Or come without a car - it is a $5 Uber ride to San Diego Airport and Mission Bay.

About the Location

The property is in the Mission Hills area of San Diego, around 10 minutes’ drive from San Diego airport and 8 minutes from Balboa Park. The area is one of the most desirable in the city, with historic and architecturally interesting homes set along quiet tree-lined streets. It is a highly walkable neighborhood with over 50 restaurants, bars and theatres a stroll from the house.

Accommodation Details

This 1-floor home includes a front porch overlooking a small garden, a main living space with 2 single sleeper sofas, lounge and dining area, and a galley kitchen. There are 2 bedrooms, both with queensize beds. There is a bathroom with shower and tub. A small tiled deck out back has seating and a little greenery; the front porch also offers space to relax outside.

Style Notes

Beach Chic. This cute and compact bungalow has a bright turquoise and white exterior and fun beach accents throughout. The main living space has interesting textile accents, including a Moroccan-style rug and wool wall hanging, while the bedrooms are neutral and painted in soft soothing colors. We love the front porch, the beach scenes on the wall and the easy location for a San Diego stay.

San Diego, San Diego County

Miles of beaches and plenty to do

It's no surprise that San Diego is regularly voted one of the most family-friendly places to vacation with kids in the whole of the USA. With 70 miles of beautiful beaches, a fabulous old town with fantastic food and a haunted house, historic sites, kid-friendly museums, nature reserves and Legoland to name a few attractions, there's something for your family whatever you're into. Local parents rave about Balboa Park, chock-full of museums, playgrounds and animatronic dinosaurs, the hands-on New Children's Museum and La Jolla beach.
