Perks for the Parents

This beachy Florida home is under a mile from the ocean and 5 miles from Grayton Beach, one of the state’s best beaches, and includes plenty for families to enjoy, from an outdoor shower to wash the sand off post-beach, to bikes and an outdoor grill. Other family-friendly features include a large master shower ideal for washing multiple children together after a long sandy day at the beach, open concept living, so you can oversee the kids playing in the living room while you are cooking in the gourmet kitchen, secluded neighborhood ideal for biking, a master bedroom large enough to have a crib in the room and space for an au pair or in laws to help care for the children during your stay. Enjoy live music, games and fun at The Hub which is just over a mile away or walk around the shops and restaurants of Rosemary Beach, 5 miles away.

Why Kids Love it

This house is so close to many outdoor amenities. Walking on the beach, playing in the sand, biking to get breakfast, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing, surfing, geocaching, and hiking are just a few of the activity options nearby. The home is just 2 miles from the amazing architecture of Seaside and about 5 miles from Grayton Beach. It is a 5-minute bike ride or a 12-minute walk to the gorgeous Grayton beach (listed as one of Florida’s top 10 beaches), in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by a state wildlife preserve. There are plenty of walking and hiking trails to explore. Eastern Lake nearby provides fishing, paddle boarding, and swimming. The lake also feeds into the gulf which provides small gullies for the smaller kids to play in. Four bikes are included. There is access to a community pool which also has a restroom and lounge chairs.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days, but the owners would love to have guests stay longer. The house has its own parking and only a few steps from the driveway to entry of the house. Car rental is strongly advised. Florida is lovely in the winter! Currently there are no baby gates for the sole flight of stairs to the second floor. With limited items for babies and toddlers, this house is better for older kids (unless you bring or hire your own crib and high chair). Note that while beach access is a half mile way, there is no car parking at the entrance and cycling or walking is the best way to get there.

About the Location

This house is situated 22 minutes from the center of Santa Rosa Beach, and very close to the ocean. Set on Florida's panhandle, the northwestern portion of the state, the area boasts clear gulf coast waters and powder white sand to rival the Caribbean. Nestled into a community called 30A and close to shops and events, the area is known for its new urbanism architecture. Goatfeathers, Red Bar and Local Catch are just some of the great local seafood spots nearby. There are 3 airports nearby: Panama City 20 minutes east, Ft. Walton 40 minutes west, and Pensacola, 2 hours west of the house.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom beach house has a first floor with a fully equipped kitchen, large living room and dining room with seating for 9, with an additional 3 seats at the bar. This floor also includes a large master bedroom with a kingsize bed, flat screen TV and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Also on the first floor is a half bath. The other 3 bedrooms are on the second floor: a kids bedroom with 2 twin beds, a queensize bedroom and a master queen bedroom. The first 2 share a full bathroom while the master queen has a private ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, a flat screen TV, and a private balcony with two Adirondack chairs. Outside, you will find a gas grill, an outdoor shower and ample parking.

Style Notes

Beach house chic. A newly-constructed home, this house has classic Florida architecture and interiors. The home is owned by an architect who has hand-picked each piece, including the eclectic display of artwork from local Florida artisans as well as other artists from the United States. The area has a great architectural pedigree, especially around the town Seaside, which was one of Florida's first planned communities. While beautifully decorated, the house is suited for children. Couches are used to having a few sandy bottoms on them and the mudroom is a perfect place for ditching sandy shoes and sunscreen. We love the whales in the shower, the soothing color palette, offset by acid bright yellow chairs in the dining area, and the laidback feel.

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

One of America’s favorite beach towns

This beach town on Florida’s panhandle is one of the nation’s most beloved, with sugar-white sand and turquoise water, great dining options and plenty to amuse the kids. Dive in and enjoy swimming, stand up paddleboarding, sunset cruises and watersports; take craft beer tours and hire bikes to get around. There are plenty of walking and hiking tours to explore; Eastern Lake is a great spot for fishing and swimming too.
