Perks for the Parents

This elegant 19th-century French manor house has interior design and luxury finishes to match. Set in the village of Chindriuex with views of Lake Bourget and the mountains, there is plenty of room to run and play in the large grounds. The property is surrounded by vineyards with 2 within 10 minutes’ walk. Chindrieux has waterside restaurants and water sports to enjoy. A babysitter/nanny service and a personal chef can be provided on request.

Why Kids Love it

Children will love the large garden where they can play football, run and climb trees in the summer or build snowmen in the winter when it’s covered in snow. The spacious rooms give them room to run around. The house has a dedicated playroom for kids with toys, a sofa, games and an Xbox. There is a bedroom set up with 2 twin beds ideal for kids also. A travel crib is provided. There is a gravel beach and swimming at the lake in the village, plus kayak and boat hire.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. During July and August: 1 week. A dog lives here but will be absent during your stay. You are welcome to bring your own pet. There is limited family dining in the kitchen but plenty elsewhere. The garden is very large. There are stone stairs, an open frame staircase and no stair gates – very young children will need supervision. Chindrieux has a supermarket, pharmacy, florist and restaurants.

About the Location

The manor house is located in the village of Chindrieux in the Savoie department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of south-east France. It is within walking distance of vineyards and overlooks Lake Bourget. The beautiful town of Annecy is a 45-minute drive. The residence is a 1-hour drive to Geneva airport and 40 minutes to the mountain nature reserve of Massif des Bauges with hiking and cycling trails, woods and wine-producing villages.

Accommodation Details

The residence has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. In the basement there is a wine cellar with a dining table seating 8. On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, a study/wet room, living room, kitchen, formal dining area, play room, laundry room and toilet. Upstairs there are 3 bathrooms with full showers and 1 with a bathtub and in-tub shower. There is 1 kingsize bedroom, 1 queensize, 1 double, 1 with twin beds and 1 with a single sofa bed. Outside a large deck overlooks the huge garden and, further still, to the mountains and the lake.

Style Notes

Modern country classic. The manor house has been recently refurbished. Bold, contemporary wallpaper and furniture mixes effortlessly with the 19th century building and a number of classical pieces. There is natural light everywhere streaming in through the huge number of windows in this property. We love the quirky dining room in the cellar for a spectacular meal to remember, the fun tropical wallpaper and vintage suitcases in the kids’ bedroom and the inspiring natural views of lakes and mountains.

Savoie, France

Mountains, lakes and spa towns

If you love the great outdoors, you'll love the Savoie. This area of eastern France has some of the country's best ski resorts (including Val d'Isere) and some of its most beautiful villages and vistas. Take a spa day at Aix-les-Bains, Brides-les-Bains or Salins-les-Thermes, go hiking in wooded valleys, boat on Bourget Lake or take to the famous slopes of the snow kingdom in winter.
