Perks for the Parents

This lovely light child-oriented apartment is in a great district of the city, close to its key attractions and full of local charm. It is bright and friendly and has cheerful welcoming decor, an inviting lounge/diner and 2 double bedrooms along with a play room/ kids room. It is a great family friendly apartment in the city. Berlin’s luxury department store KaDeWe is approximately 15 minutes away by U-bahn.

Why Kids Love it

There’s plenty of room to play and run in the apartment itself, and it is close to parks and playgrounds too, not to mention ice cream parlors. There is a big playroom with a mini slide, a little shop, kids kitchen, table, puzzles, books, Lego and all sorts of cars and toys. This room doubles as the kids room, and has 2 single beds. In addition, kids dishes, a change table and a bottle warmer are provided.

Things to Know

Two children’s mattresses can be added. There are no significant safety hazards. The residence is particularly good for those traveling with small children as it has 2 highchairs, 2 cribs and a Maclaren stroller on request, and is all on one level. Car hire is not essential - Berlin’s public transport system is easy to navigate and reliable.

About the Location

This residence is in the popular Akazienkiez area of Schoeneberg, close to all the hot spots of central Berlin on a lively street near parks, playgrounds, cafés, restaurants and independent stores. The closest grocery store is 3 minutes away. Berlin-Tegel airport is the closest, 12km away, and the main Berlin train station is 5km away.

Accommodation Details

This 140 sq m basement apartment is in a typical Berlin house from the turn of the last century. It has 2 bedrooms plus a spacious dining-room, a playroom or extra bedroom, a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a tub. The bedrooms have a double bed and queen size bed plus a crib in each, and the playroom has 2 single beds.

Style Notes

Modern and playful, with plenty of light despite being a basement apartment. The kids play room is fun, with white circles on the blue walls, while the lounge-diner is pretty and colorful. We love the framed kids drawings on the playroom walls, and the gingham table cloth on the table, which has mismatched seats with multicolor cushions.

Hi I am Julia. I live with my family in Berlin and the picture shows me and my eldest son. I also have 2 smaller children and a little dachshund. They all keep me very busy!! I am renting my apartment since 5 years and I really like it to have families here from all over the world. I like travelling a a lot and this is why I studied one year in Sicily, Palermo which is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. I try to get back there every springtime. In summer we use to spend our holidays in Greece and we get there with our old Mercedes, born 1977. I love this trip ! My Mamma stays in India and I will go there again as soon as possible. So, now you know why I like to have guests here - they bring the world to me! :)

Lovely neighbourhood with a few parks with playgrounds. The place is cool and cosy, I didn´t give 5 stars because it has some disadvantages such as having the toilet via the kids room and having no door in the kids room. If one were to use it only as a two bedroom the rooms are two far apart and I don´t know if that would be kid friendly enough. One other major drawback for us was the lack of blackout with rooms being too bright early on. Loads of toys and lovely decor apart from this. Julia is a great host and the place is nice overall.

Schöneberg, Berlin

Witches, cafés and kids karaoke

In the southwest of central Berlin, Schöneberg is known for a few things. It’s a mostly quiet residential area with wide pavements and great cafés and bars, and it’s also part of the city’s gay quarter. For family travelers, there’s a café offering kids karaoke, a witch-themed playground and easy access to the Tiergarten and the rest of the city.
