Perks for the Parents

This Riviera home with a pool, between the lovely villages of Seillans and Bargemon, offers a relaxing place to stay with the kids, with an informal boules pitch and plenty of toys and books for the kids. It is very secluded and has stunning views of the surrounding countryside. In front of the house, a large swing seat for up to 4 is the ideal location for evening cocktails. Inside the house, everything is set up for a family with a full kitchen and family sized dining room; a Weber gas BBQ makes summer eating fun. Along with a stylish and spacious master bedroom, there is a separate master bathroom with bath, and the ground floor bedrooms are ideal for grandparents or an au pair.

Why Kids Love it

The pool is great fun and is set away from the house and fenced as per French legal requirements. There is also a summer house with TV and Bose docking station, great for older kids, and plenty of toys, books and DVDs for younger kids. There are cribs and 2 high chairs available. The garden has an enclosed lawn area and there is a small enclosed patio outside the kitchen door where children love to play. The French coast is under an hour away and the Gorge du Verdon, great for boating, swimming and kayaking, is under an hour away.

Style Notes

Modern Provence. This stone manoir is set in 2.5 acres of its own land and has direct access to some lovely hikes. Sat on a south-facing hillside with extensive, elevated views over the surrounding countryside, it is a relaxing and refined place to stay. Inside, the contemporary interiors nod to a traditional style Provencal style while offering welcoming and quality accommodation throughout. The traditional fully fitted kitchen has an American-style fridge freezer, and bedrooms enjoy exposed beams and soft colors throughout. We love the easy going style and the wonderful views.

We are a family of 4 who love to travel especially to our home in Provence, where the summer days are long & sunny with evenings spent out in the summer house by the pool though our favourite time is in the winter with the crisp & clear blue skies & the roaring log fires.

The house is as beautiful as the pictures show it to be. It is in a perfect quiet spot with lots of nature around it and it has a wonderful view over the valley. The garden and the pool are lovely, even in spring with not so nice weather. This being said we were in the assumption that there would be toys because that is stated at the amenities but we found that there was only one toy for younger kids to play with. The owner said there would be more toys after summer when people would have left beach toys etc. so if you come later in spring or summer you probably will find some more. Upon arrival we found that the heating system was broke and the house felt cold because of the weather outside. It took 6 days to fix this and we have been without warm water and proper heating in that period. It was really uncomfortable. We have been mostly disappointed with the handling of this by the owner. This makes why the overall experience wasn't that good for us.

The heating was in perfect working order when the guests arrived however our house manager found the guests had been fiddling with the boiler when he arrived which caused a complete shutdown of the system our property manager got a plumber out within 24 hours. We then found out a part was needed which had to be ordered and being a bank holiday in France this unfortunately took a couple of days to get in. We did everything we could to get this fixed asap including daily visits from our property manager & 3 call outs for the plumber, though we also had electric heater's for the bedrooms and a huge amount of firewood for the large open fireplace to heat the house even though it was 20 degrees outside at the time. There is a basket of toys including a wooden pirate ship and castle and a large number of DVDs and books for inside, for outside there is a boules set, badminton, bat & ball and tennis racquet's and various balls and inflatables but these do vary from time to time & with the season

Provencal living and day trips to the beach

This charming medieval village, under an hour from the Riviera coast, is the ideal place to experience that famous Provencal way of life. Sit beside fountains watching people in the shaded squares, shop at the weekly market and enjoy coffee on restaurant terraces. Family beaches at Frejus and St Aygulf are easy to reach for a day trip, while the Gorge du Verdon is ideal for anyone who loves water and watersports.
