A spectacular Solana Beach home with stunning interiors and amazing kids play spaces, just 2 miles from the beach. It sleeps 9 + 2. This home is truly designed with families in mind. The space is very comfortable and nicely decorated without being fussy - perfect for parents with young children - and the outdoor areas offer so many spaces to explore, play and relax. Parents will adore the primary bedroom, which has a connected sitting area with a built-in bookcase, separating it from the rest of the room - ideal for meditation/yoga or for a quiet place to work. The bedroom windows overlook large Eucalyptus trees creating a cool treehouse feel, and the spa-like primary bathroom boasts vaulted ceilings, a double vanity, a standalone soaking tub, a walk-in steam shower with 2 shower heads and a separate WC. When you’re ready to explore, families will love a trip to San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, as well as Legoland California (both less than half an hour away).

Kids of all ages will love this home, thanks to its fantastic dedicated children’s rooms, spacious open plan layout and fun outdoor areas - don’t miss the secret garden rooms and outdoor slides! The hosts have 4 young kids so they have created a beautiful, clean space yet added nice, simple toys for children, such as blocks and play tables. Little ones will also enjoy the playhouse that is set up with a large Connect4 game. For parents with babies or toddlers, there’s an added bonus room with a crib/toddler bed, rocking chair and dresser. For nearby essentials, it's just 1 mile from Flower Hill Shopping Center and a half mile to the Vons Grocery Store and Starbucks. Kids of all ages will enjoy a trip to the largest, most beautiful county park in San Diego, San Dieguito Park, which is less than a mile from the home with multiple areas to explore.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 6 nights. Safety notes: the stairs have a gate for small children. The backyard is fully fenced and the home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. The first floor of the home has a few areas that step up (2 steps) to the kitchen from the living/dining room and family room area. Pets are welcome on request. Those with allergies should be aware that the family cat lives in the property. (He is looked after by the property caretaker, although guests are welcome to pet him!). Parking is available for XX cars - car rental is recommended. The hosts can provide a Nuna stroller, car seat and pack-n-play for guests, as well as beach gear, towels and toys. A mud room connects the home to the garage with a side-by-side washer and dryer, as well as plenty of storage for bags, shoes, towels, and toiletries. There is a whole house water filtration and water softener system.

About the Location

The house is located in Solana Beach, San Diego. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood close to shops (including Whole Foods), restaurants, parks, trails and so much more - you can easily bike over to the Cedros Design District, the local Urban Winery or Craft Brewery. It’s 5 minutes’ from the Solana Beach train station - take the train downtown or head north to San Juan Capistrano for the adorable petting zoo and lunch. Spend the day with your feet in the sand or surf the waves at Fletcher Cove Park (less than 2 miles away), the host’s favorite local beach and kids park. The Rail Trail in Solana Beach is awesome for walking or biking, while the Lagoon Trail is just a mile down the road from the home - a beautiful scenic walking path. You’ll find many incredible restaurants all around including the new One Paseo Shopping Center, as well as multiple great organic markets to choose from just 5-10 minutes away. It’s 25 minutes from the San Diego Airport.

Accommodation Details

This home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set across 2 floors. The inviting open floor plan consists of a living area, kitchen (with a dramatic 14-foot waterfall quartz island for easy morning breakfasts) a breakfast nook and a dining room. A lower-level guest bedroom (with a kingsize bed) is located around the corner from the family room, with its own entrance via French doors. The guest bathroom here has a walk-in shower. Upstairs, the primary bedroom has a kingsize bed, while the 2 children’s bedrooms have 1 queensize bed and 2 single beds respectively. There are 2 bathrooms with bathtubs on this floor. The home sits on a sprawling 1/2 acre lot with many outdoor spaces to explore: there is a large pergola with couches and a fireplace perfect for hanging out, an outdoor kids playhouse, large grassy areas, garden beds, fruit trees and a hidden staircase surrounded by passion fruit vines that lead to an entire lower part of the property. This lower area has a garden house with kids toys, a desk, slides and a separate trailer outdoor bunker - perfect for homeschooling or office space. The property is fully fenced and also has an area on the side of the home with a sauna, cold plunge and reflexology path.

Style Notes

Artfully-designed. The interior was recently renovated and finished with European Oak flooring throughout to create a clean, modern and comfortable space. The hosts used neutral colors and crisp white walls but added warmth with contemporary artwork and a mixture of textiles. Vaulted ceilings and steel windows overlook the lush landscaping, bringing the outside in, while thriving plants and beautiful crystals add to the magical, good vibes of the property. The large windows, soaring ceilings and skylights create an abundance of light which pours into the home and adds to the relaxing, calming environment. The expansive kitchen has custom inset cabinetry with high-end appliances, including a built-in Thermador refrigerator, 6 burner gas range, a Jenn-Air double convection oven, marble countertops, wine and beverage refrigerators, and an instant hot water dispenser. We love the custom Dutch door, the large timber-framed pergola and fireplace which links the dining room to the outdoors seamlessly, and the cozy desk area looking out over the beautiful gardens.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
