This classic apartment in a Haussmann building in the Sorbonne area of Paris sleeps 2 adults and 2 young children and is light, bright and well located. It’s well set up for children under five, with plenty of baby gear; it’s also really convenient for exploring the city with Notre Dame five minutes walk away, and the Luxembourg Gardens a ten-minute walk away. We love the bottle green front door, the parquet flooring, the cozy lounge and the toys, books and games for the kids. It’s a great central option for a young family visiting the city and wanting to get to know Paris like a local family.

What we love

  • The location is fantastic, with a park a block away, shops and restaurants nearby, and attractions including Notre Dame and the Luxembourg Gardens under ten minutes’ walk

  • Inside, there’s a generous living room incorporating a small dining area, large sofa, TV, fluffy rug and plenty of toys, books and games. It’s ideal as a place for small kids to play
  • The kids room too is well set up with a crib and bed for a small child, plus toys, books and games
  • The master bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows, a wall-mounted TV and double bed

Unbeatable location! We stayed in this apartment for a week in April with our three-year-old and one-year-old. The location is amazing. The Seine and Notre Dame are a five minute stroll away, and it's a quick walk to Luxembourg Gardens, St. Germain, Montparnasse, the Marais, and more. We even walked to the Eiffel Tower (which was a few miles, but a flat and beautiful walk.) We used strollers every day except when we took the metro to Montmartre. A grocery store and boulangerie are within a block of the apartment, and the charcuterie, fromagerie, produce stand and wine shop are all about two blocks away. There is a nice little playground across the street from the apartment building, and we went twice to the playground & sandboxes at Luxembourg Gardens, about a 10 minute walk from this apartment. We borrowed sandpails and shovels from the apartment so our kids could play in the (many!) sandboxes we found in Paris. The apartment was very quiet (windows open to an interior courtyard) and had everything we needed for cooking most dinners at home. The children's room is packed, floor to ceiling, with toys, which kept our children entertained for all the time we weren't out exploring Paris. The apartment is a little cluttered, but we had room for our own things, and for the location and price, I don't think it can be beat. I would definitely recommend it for families with babies or toddlers.

I spent a lovely long weekend in Paris with my husband and 1-year-old daughter. The Rue Des Ecoles Residence was a perfect place for us to stay! The charming, old apartment building had great character. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the neighborhood was an ideal place for us to explore. Yasmina was the nicest host, and was so easy to work with. We can't wait to return!

Sorbonne, The 5th arrondissement

This Left Bank neighborhood is famous for its ancient university; it's also got plenty of charm if you're not into hitting the books. With great restaurants, historic buildings and a location that makes walking to sights such as the Pantheon, Notre Dame and the Luxembourg Gardens easy, it's a family-friendly and conveniently central area to stay in the city.
