Perks for the Parents

This classic yurt is part of a small luxury camp for families in a beautiful and lesser visited part of the French countryside, around an hour and a half northeast of Toulouse, and sleeps up to 2 adults and 3 children. Parents can relax while kids play, make friends and run around and have adventures in the open air. The hosts take the hassle out of camping and throw in luxury where they can. For parents who want to unwind without leaving the camp, professional onsite massages and yoga classes are available with advanced notice. All the necessary kit for babies and kids is provided, including a baby back pack and a microwave. WiFi is available in the communal areas but most guests prefer to turn off their devices and enjoy the tranquility.

Why Kids Love it

This camp is a great spot for an adventure. Older kids can build a woodland den, play on the trampoline, learn to play petanque or play on the tree swing; younger kids can dig in the sand box, or try out the toys and games provided. There are pets to play with (at the time of writing 2 guinea pigs and 2 puppies, 2 dwarf goats and a cat) and plans for chickens anda veg patch. The natural swimming pool is chemical free and has a pebble beach and shallow end perfect for little ones who can splash around with the frogs and learn about nature. And as a family-oriented spot, plenty of new friends to make too. Babies get proper cribs; kids get proper mattresses on full size beds, plus duvets and pillows.

Things to Know

Open from May until the end of October each year. Minimum stays of 3 nights most of the year, but 7 nights starting on a Saturday from mid July until end of August (please check before booking). Rates are seasonal – see calendar for details. Please ask the hosts if you have any special requirements as they may be able to help. The swimming pond is fully fenced but no lifeguard. Please note there are no baths, only shared showers. A plastic baby bath is available. The hosts live on site. An optional continental buffet breakfast is available at 10 euros per adult / teen, 5 euros per child (free for under fives!). The owner can arrange activities, restaurants, massages, yoga and more on request.

Accommodation Details

This woodland yurt, made from ash and canvas, is round with an internal wooden frame and just over 21sqm of floor space. It’s a good size for a small family - along with the double bed, cribs and single beds can be added. There is a fully equipped open air summer kitchen with a fridge, dishwashers and all utensils, pots and pans etc provided. The camp has a 20m natural swimming pond, plus covered seating area.. It can sleep up to 2 adults and 3 children.

Style Notes

The woodland yurt has a handmade wooden bed and some small items of furniture along with matting and rugs on the floor. The transparent roof window provides a peep hole to the oak trees and stars at night. Each yurt has its own private woodland space with a hammock strung for lazy afternoons in the shade. The owners previously ran a luxury safari camp in Africa, influences of which can be seen in the décor. The yurts are each named after beaches in Kenya (Shimoni, Bambouri). You can have a wash under the sun or stars in the shared shower house.

Hilltop villages and open air opera

This medieval town, half an hour west of Najac, has historic alleyways and street-front cafes and is surrounded by unspoilt natural beauty. Nearby you’ll find prehistoric caves, hilltop villages - some of which are the most beautiful in France - artisan markets, ancient castles that stage open air opera productions in the summer and vineyards.
