Perks for the Parents

This designer apartment in the 6th arrondissement of Paris features striking interiors in a beautiful historic building, just 1 block from Luxembourg gardens. It sleeps 6 + 1. From the calming blue walls of the lounge to the mixed-up vintage chairs round the dining table and the graphic print wallpaper, this residence is a true one-off. It is well-set up for a family stay, with a fully stocked kitchen, a library of children's books and a claw-foot bath tub, among other delights. A crib can be easily set up in the small office, adjacent to the primary bedroom, if required.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment is perfect for all ages. The residence has plenty of toys and books for kids under 10 and is a great family space. It is a short walk from local playgrounds, and is practically upstairs from one of the best boulangeries in Paris. The Luxembourg Gardens and its puppet theater, sailboats, 100-year-old carousel and playground are a block away. A crib and high chair can also be provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 days. Special rates apply for high season in Spring, September and over Christmas. The apartment is safe and secure on the third floor (second floor in France) and has elevator access. Daily housekeeping and/or babysitting can be arranged for a fee of €15 per hour. The apartment has speedy fiber optic internet, TV and a washer/dryer. There are some wide marble stairs and no stair gates so very young children should be supervised. Car rental is not strictly necessary as there are great public transport links nearby.

About the Location

The residence is located in an 18th century building on a corner that looks up the Rue de Tournon to the French Senate, in the heart of the St Germain area in the desirable 6th arrondissement of Paris. It is a block from the Luxembourg Gardens and is a 2-5 minute walk from the Boulevard St Germain, the St Sulpice church, the art galleries of rue de Seine, and the Seine. Charles de Gaulle Airport is 50 minutes by car/taxi; Eurostar is around 30 minutes away.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, as well as an entree, a salon, a kitchen, and an office. The living area has sofa and chairs, while the fully-equipped kitchen has an eat-in dining table seating up to 7 and a small study area with desk. There are 3 bedrooms: 2 have queensize beds and the third has 2 twin beds. The 3 bathrooms all have a shower and 1 has a fabulous claw-foot bathtub. The residence has no outdoor space but is close to parks and playgrounds.

Style Notes

Colorful contemporary. With bright colors and bold graphics that stand in contrast to the 14-foot ceilings, marble chimneys and Versailles parquet floors, there is plenty to admire. It has recently been renovated by its French/American owners who work in real estate and interiors. The apartment has been published in Elle Decor UK and France, and on the cover of Architectural Digest Spain and IDEAT France and Germany. We love the blissful blue walls, the stunning historic fireplace in the dining area and the fun hexagonal bathroom tiles.

The Saint Sulpice apartment is incredibly stylish and it’s obvious a tremendous amount of care from a talented designer went into every detail. Almost as equally impressive is the location in Paris’ elegant 6th Arrondissement. It’s close to the Luxembourg Gardens, metro, great restaurants etc etc. We would highly recommend this apartment!

The 6th arrondissement, Paris

Sail boats, boutiques and a charming atmosphere

Considered one of ‘the’ quintessential Parisian neighborhoods, the 6th arrondissement includes the Latin Quarter, the Luxembourg Gardens, famed cafés and streets once walked by artists and writers. For a taste of local life, visit the Musée de Cluny, explore the side streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and sail boats on the octagonal pond at the Luxembourg Gardens.
