Style Notes

This beautiful New England home has historical bones and contemporary additions. From the cocooning wicker chairs in the lounge to the wood paneled room with a tiger portrait, there’s plenty of panache in the styling details. There’s a fine mixture of comfort and convenience plus classic style and modern perks. The attic bedrooms has sloping ceilings and plenty of character while the rose sprigged wallpaper in the kids room adds nostalgic appeal. It’s all rather lovely.

What a beautiful, charming property and home! We had such a special summer here. Jill was incredibly helpful with any question we had. The house has everything you need and more. It is not far from lots of cute charming towns, antique shops, restaurants, farms, and so much more. Thank you Jill and family for a summer we will never forget!

I had high expectations after seeing the beautiful photos and August Moon exceeded every one I had. This place is perfection from the gourmet kitchen, to the amazing record collection, to the stunning decor, to the treehouse and toys for the kids and the absolutely breathtaking grounds. This place has everything and it perfect for families or friends. Jill is so responsive and accommodating. August Moon is paradise.

This is one of the best vacations we have ever had. The home was perfect and the property was magnificent. So much to do nearby and the hosts were perfect.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful early spring stay at harvest moon. The house and property are very well maintained, while providing the country-farmhouse feel we were hoping for. The house and garage especially had so many toys and activities to keep our young boys entertained. Jill was always available to answer any questions and make sure our stay was comfortable. We would happily return.

We had such a lovely stay at August Moon! It was perfect for our cozy New Years adventure. We loved all the common spaces in the home and had plenty of room for our crew of 5 adults and 1 toddler. It was easy to find all the toddler-proofing items around the house, too. The grounds of the home are wonderful and while, you're definitely in the country, several wonderful little towns are quite close. We talked about making this a regular trip we loved it so much!

The August Moon property has so much to offer: a spacious home, a tennis court, a tree house, outdoor seating areas, fire pit, outdoor toys, walking trail, swings from trees... There is also so much to enjoy in the area from shopping, apple picking, to hiking in the fall. The adults as well as the 4 and 2 year olds were so so happy with this adventure at August Moon! Thank you...

Our family had the best time at the August Moon house! Perfectly set up for our 2 year old (she was in heaven playing in the playroom and swinging from the tire swing!) and was stylish and comfortable for the rest of the adults in our crew. We spent the days enjoying the outdoors and the evenings mixing cocktails and listening to their great record collection. Highly recommend!

We all loved our long weekend at August Moon. We were there for the MLK weekend and a delayed Christmas family gathering. The weather was really, really cold (-7 was the lowest) but the house was toasty warm thanks to the fireplace and wood stove, as well as the regular heating units. The house is wonderfully stocked with gazillions of dishes, including big bowls and serving platters, great chef's knives, 6-burner gas stove, large refrigerator, lots of counter space, and even cupboards to store your groceries. The weather cooperated magically for us -- we had a day before snow fell so we hiked a bit on the trails, explored the kids' cafe, the very magical treehouse, and outdoor swing. The snow arrived as predicted that night and we found 2 little hills just perfect for sledding with our toddlers. The snowplow arrived as promised (and without prompting) and the roads were clear for our Monday morning drives home. The owner was very responsive and the instructions for home care were clear and very helpful. You can see from the photos that the house is beautifully decorated, artful but also comfortable for all of us. We might be outgrowing the space (6 adults and 4 kids) but would love to return in all seasons. It's really heavenly, for kids and adults. Thanks!

There is something magical about this spot! The setting is just beautiful, it's convenient to cute towns with restaurants and coffee shops in the Berkshires and in Conn. We stayed for a long weekend with two families (5 kids among us) and it was a perfect set up. There was so much for the kids to run free and explore outside -- tennis, the tree house, fire pit, play house, tree swing and huge yard. Inside was well-stocked with board games, some art supplies (crayons/watercolors) and DVDs. My little one would not leave the secret attic playroom. It was so cute. The house is comfortable for two families and was well-stocked with linens, kitchen supplies, etc. Beware tall renters, the ceilings are sloped in a few of the bedrooms, so we had to duck a bit, but they were also very cozy. The house is tastefully and beautifully decorated -- I may borrow some design inspiration for my own home :). Jill was a very responsive host. We'll be back!

Jill's place was amazing! Jill was super helpful since we first contacted her and made everything go smoothly. The kids loved all the toys both inside and out and my husband and I loved all the luxurious touches throughout the house. Would definitely return!

We had a wonderful stay at August Moon with 4 adults and 4 kids! The house is great for kids and had an amazing selection of toys, both indoors and outdoors. We also really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, which is very well stocked and beautiful. We went in the winter but still had plenty to do - skiing at Butternut, eating at the great local restaurants, playing outside in the yard, and even a bonfire. Jill is a wonderful host, very responsive and helpful in the planning process. We hope to return again!

Our stay at August Moon was magical. We arrived during a snowfall and everything was so beautiful! It set the tone of enchantment for sure. All of Jill's A+ communication leading up to our stay had totally made the transition from arrival to relaxing a very quick one. The house is so charming and has so much sprawl to relax in one room and have kiddos play in another, but never felt like anybody was too separate. Cooking was a joy, and everything was cozy and comfy and fun and perfect!

We recently stayed at August Moon and had a wonderful weekend in the Berkshires! It could not have been easier to arrive with two toddlers to a house that was already equipped for young children. It made the weekend so much more relaxing. The house is warm and inviting, Jill was a pleasure to communicate with, and we would recommend August Moon to anyone looking for an escape from the city with their children (or without) in tow!

My family and I spent a fun and cozy Christmas at August Moon and had a really wonderful time! The house itself is sweetly decorated with a great sun room for lounging and a den for movie watching. The owners Jill and Trey could not have been nicer and more welcoming via email. And the house is situated between many cute towns for exploring and great nature walks. Overall, it was a very peaceful and memorable stay for my family who could not have asked for a better holiday getaway!

The August Moon Residence provided an absolutely perfect getaway four our family of 4 (Mom, Dad, and two kids ages 3 and 5 months). The house is spacious and beautifully decorated. Jill, the owner, was always just an email away if we had questions. We especially loved the secret playroom in the house and the massive variety of outdoor toys in the garage. At night we enjoyed staring at the stars and sleeping in the comfy beds with luxury linens. No detail has been overlooked in this fine home. We cannot wait to return for another stay.
