Perks for the Parents

A central stay in the heart of San Francisco with colorful interiors, a pretty private garden and world-famous attractions within easy reach. It sleeps 7. Well set up for a family stay, the house has an open flow in the living/dining/kitchen areas and there’s plenty of space for everyone to sit down to eat together, both inside and outside on the deck. Parents will love the home gym in the basement, fitted out with a Peloton treadmill and free weights. When you’re ready to see the city, it’s a highly walkable area, with public transport options nearby and a whole host of cultural, historical and tourist attractions to explore.

Why Kids Love it

There’s plenty of toys, games and puzzles suitable for kids aged 5-6 years. Kids of all ages will love the cool swing chair in the living room and the cozy cabin-style bed tucked away into the top floor eaves. On sunny days, the lush garden is perfect for outdoor games and family barbecues. It’s just 10 minutes’ walk to Corona Heights Park which is home to lots of green spaces, sports courts, climbing walls and the Randall children’s science museum. Further afield, no kid can resist the fun amusements and sea lion-spotting at Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. Safety notes: there are 3 sets of stairs between each level of the house - the stairs from the main floor up are carpeted. This is a family area with friendly neighbors up and down the block. Hypo-allergenic, non-shedding dogs are welcome on request. The hosts have a set of 4 scooters for kids and adults available for guests to use during their stay. There’s space to park 1 car in the basement garage but car rental is not strictly essential.

About the Location

The house is located in the Casto neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Public transportation is readily accessible at the top of the block (Muni) in 1-3 minutes’ walk. Parks and playgrounds are very close by, including the infamous Dolores Park overlooking the city skyline. It’s lots of fun to ride the old streetcars through the city, but it’s an easy area to explore on foot, filled with many restaurants, bars, a public library and the Castro Theater. The famous Haight Ashbury area is less than half an hour away, as is the picturesque Painted Ladies architecture. It’s just 20 minutes’ drive east to the Pacific coast beaches or San Francisco Zoo and half an hour to San Francisco Airport.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, set over 2 floors. On the top floor, there’s a primary bedroom with a kingsize bed and a children’s bedroom/studio with a queensize bed across the hall, plus the family bathroom (with shower over bathtub). There’s also 1 airbed available for extra guests. On the main level, you’ll find the kitchen and adjoining sun room with an eating/lounging space, and a large dining room with adjoining living room. The living rooms can be converted to another guest room and offers a kingsize sofabed to sleep up to 2 additional guests. The sun room opens up to a deck (with a grill) and a gorgeous shaded private backyard. There’s also a basement on the ground floor with a washer/dryer, extra refrigerator and home gym.

Style Notes

San Francisco fun! This delightful home was built in 1902 and features iconic original Victorian details, complemented by both modern and more vintage furnishings. The home has a cozy, homely atmosphere but is colorful, playful and fun. The magnificent natural light that pours in throughout the day provides happiness to both the people and the plants that reside inside. We love the color-pop coral orange doors, the palm print wallpaper in the living room and the rainbow stripe details.
