Perks for the Parents

An elegant yet eclectic boutique hotel in the heart of Cheltenham, England, with dedicated family rooms, all-day dining options, and luxurious interiors. The hotel has 36 rooms. The well-chosen food and drink menus offer a unique selection of treats for well-deserving parents: sample a traditional English afternoon tea or a classic Sunday lunch, and finish your days with a cocktail from one of their specialist bars: ‘Gin & Juice’ (with 450 different gins) or ‘Rum & Fizz’ (350 rums to try). The location is perfect for wandering round the shops, restaurants, and fortnightly farmers market in well-heeled Cheltenham, and is also a great base to explore the rural charm of the ever-popular Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty.

Why Kids Love it

With a casual, laid-back atmosphere and dedicated family rooms, children will feel welcome at this cozy home-from-home. The restaurant has all-day dining, a children’s menu, and high chairs for little ones. There aren't any toys or books in the property, but when they need to run off some steam, there are 2 parks opposite the hotel - Montpelier Gardens has a children’s climbing area, art gallery, and cafe - and it’s just 15 minutes’ walk to Sandford Parks Lido, where the whole family can swim in a heated outdoor pool. Further afield, kids of all ages will love going on safari at the Cotswolds Wildlife Park & Gardens (half an hour away).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: usually 1 night. Prices range from £150 to £450 per night, depending on the type of room and the time of year. Check in is 3pm; check out is 11am. On-street (paid-for) parking is available outside. The hotel has a restaurant and bar in the main building and a Barbecue Grill on the back terrace. There is a DJ that plays in the main building on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, so families are best to ask for a room in one of the other buildings. (The hotel is set across 3 buildings). Extra beds are £25 per child; cribs are free of charge. All rooms come with a round-the-clock concierge service, fluffy bathrobes, luxury Bramley toiletries, and freshly baked treats in your room. The staff are happy to recommend a nanny who can be booked by guests for an additional fee.

About the Location

This hotel is located in the heart of Cheltenham, England. Cheltenham Spa train station is less than 5 minutes’ drive (or 20 minutes’ walk) and there are plenty of bus routes nearby. The nearest airports are Birmingham (1 hour away) or London Heathrow (1 hour 45 minutes). This charming bustling town is the cultural center of the Cotswolds region, with plenty of shops, restaurants, events, and festivals throughout the year. Picturesque rural villages are within easy reach (visit the historic Bibury village, with its thatched roofs and honey-colored stone cottages) and there are opportunities for outdoor pursuits, including golf and country shooting.

Accommodation Details

The hotel has 36 rooms. There are 2 types of family rooms. 1) Super Suites have super kingsize or kingsize beds and ensuite bathrooms with roll-top bathtubs (additional single beds can be added for kids). One of the Super Suites has a private courtyard. 2) A Family Room, which has a super kingsize or kingsize bed and a second room with 2 single beds (connected by an ensuite bathroom with roll-top bathtub). All other rooms in the hotel have kingsize beds and some can accommodate a crib or Z-bed - please check when booking.

Style Notes

Georgian grandeur. This traditional Cheltenham hotel blends original historic features with eclectic modern design. Each and every bedroom is different, so they all benefit from unique details - from antique finishing touches and period bathrooms to contemporary statement wallpaper and original artwork from the likes of David Hockney and Banksy. Bedrooms are dressed in a mix of rich velvet and sumptuous leather textures, while bathrooms blend brass or copper hardware with eye-catching patterned tiles. We love the wood-paneled bedroom walls, the industrial-style lighting fixtures, and the classic Chesterfield leather sofas.
