Perks for the Parents

This beautifully designed contemporary house in the Jordaan area of the city includes a spacious living area and urban garden, and sleeps up to 5. Enjoy a cozy dinner in the dining area, or relax and watch the kids play in the open plan living room, which has a full kitchen and opens to the garden. There are 3 bedrooms in total, 1 for a toddler, 1 with a queensize bed ideal for 1-2 older children or adults, and 1 master bedroom.

Why Kids Love it

The property is well set up for those with young children; the host’s child has just turned 2 and they have plenty to keep babies and toddlers occupied, including puzzles, books, race car, wonderful wooden toys and music instruments. For older children, the space works well and the location close to key museums and attractions make it easy to explore the city. The house is a short distance from Westerpark which has a public kids pool and events spaces.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. Maximum capacity: 4 people (plus one baby). Stair gates are provided along with baby gear including baby bath, baby monitor, high chair (can be used up to 3 years), toddler bed. An extra travel cot is available and the hosts can provide an extra buggy if necessary. Note that the stairs, as pictured, are steep (typical in Amsterdam) and have open slats; they have a rail and glass wall. Car rental not necessary in this central Amsterdam area.

About the Location

The residence is in the Jordaan, a vibrant central area in Amsterdam with many playgrounds, child-friendly restaurants and a wonderful organic market every Saturday at the Westerpark, a short walk away. It is close to boutiques and placed on an outer canal, quiet but walking distance from the city buzz. The residence is 30-45 minutes from Schiphol Airport by car/taxi with easy public transport links nearby.

Style Notes

Modern and architect-designed. This house was renovated in a 2-year project, designed with an architect to fit the family’s needs and lifestyle. It is modern with a warm touch. The open plan living room features a beautiful kitchen and bar ready for relaxing drinks, and there is a great outdoor area where you can relax during the day or evening. We love the wooden floors, the modern open plan space and the stunning fireplace.

Hi, we are Otto, Maribelle and Alex, we work and live in Amsterdam. We are in our thirties and Alex just turned 2! We love to travel, a few years ago we took a sabbatical and travelled around the world for 6 months. Otto loves to cycle and work on our classic mini. Maribelle plays field hockey and we love going out for dinner and meeting friends.

The Jordaan, Amsterdam

Amsterdam's most admired area

This jewel in the heart of central Amsterdam is all tiny streets checkered with shops and cafés, well-kept historical homes and beautiful canals. It is a short stroll from Anne Frank House and many of the central galleries, museums and attractions, and there are markets on Mondays and at the weekend. Don’t miss the Westerpark, which has a petting farm and swamp adventure land, or taking a tour of the city by boat.
