Style Notes

Contemporary rustic luxury. There’s a languid dreaminess to this chic hideaway full of design features to die for. Casa Lola has been designed with care by its NYC-based owner, designer Jan Eleni. Every design detail is carefully curated. From the artisan-made cement bathroom in the cottage to the polished concrete floors and reclaimed wood benches. The villa is like a treasure box of Eleni’s global finds – from Indonesian volcanic tiles that line the pool to a chandelier and metal chair from Paris and the cottage’s copper faucet knobs in the shower made by local artisans. We love the novelty shower head made from a discarded tree, the deep and tranquil pool and the gorgeous splashes of rustic color amongst the greenery. She's created a dream of a getaway!

Luxury on the beach

Life is lived at a relaxed pace in this former fishing village turned barefoot chic hangout, an hour and a half's flight north of Rio de Janeiro on the south Atlantic coast. The beaches are beautiful - some fringed with palm trees, others with beach bars - and when the tide goes out, reefs create perfect natural swimming pools for tots.
