Perks for the Parents

This gorgeous classical Tuscan villa with a pool an hour north of Siena in Radda in Chianti has expansive grounds and a children’s playground. Created as a place for a large family and friends to gather, it includes 5 acres of landscaped grounds overlooking olive groves, vineyards and picturesque hamlets. The property is bound on all sides by a fence to protect the plants from wild boar, roebuck and deer living in hundreds of hectares of woods that surround the property. The spacious villa is ideal for a vacation as a large group or 2 families traveling together. Nearby attractions include many pretty historic villages, the culture-packed cities of Florence and Siena and multiple vineyards.

Why Kids Love it

This is a wonderful villa for children of all ages - not only is there a pool and an expansive garden on many levels to play in, but there is also a playground ideal for younger children, plus table tennis, table football and a media room. There is a kids table for small children, a ladybird paddling pool for babies, and small step stools in the bathrooms. Two cribs and high chairs are provided and bedrooms are set up for children - 2 have 2 twin beds and another has 3 twin beds. One bedroom has a mezzanine level with a twin bed on the platform, best for an au pair or child aged over 6.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week, Saturday to Saturday. The property is entirely fenced and provided with an alarm system. A stone stair leads to the first floor - there are walls on each side, so it's easy for children to climb, but no stair gate. Note that one of the bedrooms has a mezzanine level with a bed, best for a child aged 6 or over. The pool is not gated but is set away from the house. There is parking at the property.

About the Location

The house is in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, midway between Florence (1 hour’s drive) and Siena (50 minutes’ drive). It is a 5-minute drive from the nearest village, Radda in Chianti, a medieval town and the former capital of Chianti, with wine shops, grocery stores, restaurants and more. Nearby villages Greve, Castellina, Radda, Volpaia and Vertine have cultural and gastronomical treasures to experience; the house is also in easy reach of San Gimignano, San Galgano, Volterra, Monteriggioni and Pienza. Car hire (4 wheel drive if possible) is strongly recommended. Florence airport is 56 km away and is the closest airport; there are train stations in Florence and Siena.

There is 1 bedroom on the ground floor with 2 twin beds and an ensuite bathroom. The ground floor also has a living room with huge sofa, study and access to the garden. The first floor has 4 bedrooms: 2 with a full/double bed, 1 with 3 twin beds and 1 with 2 twin beds. There is a bathroom on this floor also. The outdoor space includes expansive grounds, a pool, a patio with barbecue and traditional wood pizza oven, a soccer garden, table tennis and a children’s playground.

Style Notes

Classical Tuscany. This typical Tuscan country house has been restored and decorated with precious but child-safe elements by the owners who live there some months of the year. With exposed wood beams, terracotta tiled floors and floral fabrics, it evokes the very best of classical Tuscan decor. The main living space has a beautiful tiled archway and the vintage prints of animals and plants throughout add elegance. We love the country kitchen, the refreshing pool and the characterful wooden beds in the bedrooms, with and without romantic canopies.

We loved staying at the Cosoli Residence! It was very family friendly! Our kids loved running through the olive trees, playing at the park and jumping into the pool. You cannot find better views! I mean, pictures cannot even do it justice. And the villa itself it equally as nice. It is very charming! The restaurant in town is amazing! I highly recommend checking it out!

We had an amazing stay at the Cosoli Residence. It could not be more beautiful! Viva was very responsive in answering all of our questions before arrival, and Cristina was very helpful with everything we needed during a week-long stay. We had 4 adults and 5 kids with plenty of space and privacy for all. bedrooms are spacious, and there are plenty of bathrooms upstairs (5). Close to several beautiful little towns, and only an hour away from Florence and Siena. I highly recommend this residence for any family that wants a spacious and rustic home away, with fantastic views and a top-notch pool. For those traveling with younger kids, the pool is a bit removed from the house which provides extra safety. Also the foosball and ping-pong tables were great!

The experience at Cosoli was excellent! As soon we booked Cosoli, we knew we made a great choice. Viva contacted us right away and emailed us a packet of helpful information and promptly answered all questions that we had before arrival. Since we were two families traveling with 5 children (ages 1 - 9) the property was perfect for us. Beautiful pool, excellent small playground and spacious rooms. We never felt like we were on top of one another. We took advantage of babysitting (from the very friendly Cristina) and cooking from Alessia! The views from the home are amazing. Since it is a private estate, you will be a few miles from a paved road. Expect a hilly (and sometimes dusty) ride in. I rented a mountain bike, which was great to explore the trails (rented from: http://www.tuscanybicycle.com/en/).
