This quintessential New York apartment in a classic pre-war building is a short walk from the Hudson River Greenway and sleeps 2 adults and up to 4 children. Filled with beautiful details, including a window seat for people-watching from the fifth floor, it has landmark views and a roof deck open from spring to autumn with views of the Hudson: the ideal backdrop for a family picnic. We love the provision for kids - plenty of toys and books plus two bedrooms, one for girls and one for boys - along with the location, 10 minutes from Central Park and multiple other playgrounds. The colorful and lively kids rooms and spacious living space make this a vacation spot to remember.

My husband, 3 children (ages 12, 9 and 6) and I are passionate about traveling to places that allow us to blend our love of food, drink, nature and culture. Our best recent trips have been to St John USVI, Naples, Positano and Capri (Italy), the Black Forest (Germany), Sedona Desert (Arizona) and Santa Barbara/Paso Robles (California, U.S.). We joined Kid & Coe to be part of a community of likeminded families offering the chance to stay in exceptional properties at home and abroad. We look forward to welcoming you to our classic Manhattan 3-bedroom apartment! We love it for its Old World details, great northern light, proximity to everything and phenomenal roofdeck, which makes NYC seem like it was built just to be the backdrop to your own private picnic.

We really enjoyed our stay at the W. 97th Residence. The apartment comfortably accommodated my wife and our three kids including lots of toys to play with. The location is excellent, only two blocks from the subway. Valerie and her husband were most helpful during our stay helping us procure a stroller and accommodating late afternoon transfer pick up.

We were lucky enough to stay in this lovely, family friendly property in July 2017. After a long day of travel, it was bliss to walk into this apartment that would be our 'home' for the next ten nights. Not only was the host fantastic to communicate with (thank you so much for all your tips on nearby family friendly activities and restaurants) my three children loved all the toys / books / craft. Despite it being our first time to New York, I struggled to get them out of the apartment some days they were having so much fun! As for the rooftop balcony... you have to see it to believe it. Amazing! My daughter had her 7th birthday lunch up there and I can't think of a more perfect Manhattan backdrop. I would highly recommend staying in this property for your next New York adventure.

Stop searching, if you are travelling with children to New York, this is the PERFECT place. The location is amazing, 3' walking distance to a playground and 3' away from 96th metro station that will take you to Time Square. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, our kids loved the toys. 2 bathrooms makes it easy for the family in the morning :-) Valerie is more than helpful and answered to all my questions very quickly. Good to know, there are also amazing day camps around and especially Discovery Program for 0 to 6 years old (5' walking distance from the apartment of the host family). Not to mention the roof top that is amazing. Everything is easy and it's really a perfect stay. A friend from NY visited and told me "how did you manage to find such a perfect place ?" that's when I told her about kid and coe but I guess it comes the host family spirit that lies in the house :-) We will definitely come back and recommend the place.

Our stay here was fantastic. Valerie's property ticked all the boxes for our family. We have two very active children and the location of the apartment was perfect for daily excursions to the parks, scootering on footpaths and exploring all our favourite NYC places. We had plenty of space to relax after a long day of walking around, the toys and games allowed for great down time while I prepared meals for two tired children. The location is very close to cross town buses and the subway station, a parking garage is just up the block or if you are lucky you can find street parking. Looking forward to returning in winter of 2016 when we visit NYC next.

Fantastic property in a beautiful building and great area. Our host were very accommodating and easy to contact, they even kept parcels for us for a week before we arrived which really helped us out. The photos were exact and the apartment spotless, all in all we can not recommend The W. 97th Street Residence enough and we will definitely try and stay again on our next visit to NYC.

We absolutely loved our time here. The apartment is beautiful, homey, clean and spacious. The location is perfect with easy access to nearby grocery stores, the subway and park. Our host was lovely. She was quick to respond to emails and extremely gracious and thoughtful. Our kids LOVED all of the toys and I was grateful for amenities like a stroller and laundry in the apartment itself. We would definitely come back here again.

Upper West Side, Manhattan

Museums, parks and green paths

Famously family-friendly, the Upper West Side is a neighborhood of quiet residential streets, on-demand conveniences and green paths along the Hudson River. Build a life-size dinosaur skeleton at the American Museum of Natural History; play in Central Park, Riverside Park or along the Hudson River Greenway, and drop into the Children’s Museum of Manhattan.
