Perks for the Parents

Bright and contemporary with thoughtful design accents, this beautiful residential Vancouver home with a gardener’s backyard is flooded with natural light and perfectly set-up for a family stay. Enjoy a full kitchen and family-sized dining area and lots of cozy spots throughout the house to play and read. All bedrooms have blackout curtains and the kids' rooms have white noise machines. Additional travel crib, full mattress, stroller, high chair and booster seats and bikes, one with a rear-mounted child seat can be provided.

Why Kids Love it

The residence is full of great toys and books for kids under 6 with plenty of space to play inside and out. The kids' rooms are cheerful and cozy. The playroom has a play kitchen, a doll's house, a train set and lots of other toys for imaginative play. The kitchen has a floor to ceiling chalkboard and a well-stocked art and crafts cupboard. The home is a short walk from a fantastic playground and is steps away from Main Street which has many wonderful child-friendly shops and restaurants. Libraries and a public pool are also walking distance.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. The floating staircase that links the main floor to the upper level is glassed in and has a very sturdy railing but requires supervision for young children. There are several large potted plants in the home. No safety gates are currently set up in the house. There is a laundry area on the upper level with a front-loading washer/dryer. The home has a self-contained rental suite in the basement with a separate entrance and very nice, quiet tenants. The back yard is fenced-in.

About the Location

The residence is in the Mount Pleasant/Riley Park neighborhood of Vancouver which is safe and vibrant but on a residential street that is very quiet at night. It is a very centrally located neighborhood in Vancouver and so convenient to just about everything. The area is very walkable to both Main and Cambie Streets with many restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, boutiques and public transit nearby. There is free and ample street parking outside. Approximately 20 minutes from the airport and a short drive from downtown Vancouver.

Accommodation Details

Three-bedroom house with a fenced backyard, deck and front yard. The main floor is open plan with a chef's kitchen, dining area, pantry, powder room, living room with fireplace, TV and play area. The top floor opens onto a den and has 3 bedrooms: a master with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with large walk-in shower and soaker tub, 2 kids' bedrooms with views of the North Shore mountains, 1 with a toddler bed and 1 with a crib, kids' bathroom (with bathtub) and a laundry nook. There is a playroom/office in the basement with an additional pull-out couch.

Style Notes

Bright and contemporary with Scandinavian accents. Beautiful wide plank white oak hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout flood the residence with natural light. The fully-stocked chef’s kitchen has a center island, stainless steel appliances, gas range, and quartz countertops. The garden is planted with a variety of herbs, a dwarf olive tree, magnolia tree, and veggie garden in the summer. French doors open onto the cedar deck with gas grill and outdoor furniture. We love the pastel Eames kitchen chairs, floor-to-ceiling chalkboard wall, freestanding tub and cement wood-burning fireplace.

We are a family of four: a boisterous 5 year old girl with a tremendous zest for life, a sweet, easy-going 2 year old and two caffeine fuelled, happy parents. We moved back to our hometown of Vancouver two years ago after 10 years in NYC and we are loving rediscovering the joys of childhood in our little corner of the Pacific Northwest. We love how family-friendly our neighborhood is and how many great coffee shops are in walking distance. Spending time outdoors is one of the great perks of life in Vancouver - the nature here is magestic and accessible. We love to travel as a family and joined Kid & Coe both to become hosts and to join a community that makes travel with kids infinitely easier.

Just as described. Very quiet and family friendly neighborhood in the heart of Vancouver. Close proximity to parks and kid-friendly accommodations and accessories make this a great option for families looking to explore Vancouver or just stay in! Groceries, restaurants, and boutique shopping all just a short walk away.

Vancouver, Canada

Manhattan with mountains

One of the world’s greatest, and most underrated, cities, Vancouver is at once a fresh-air lover’s paradise and a metropolitan hub, surrounded by mountains, forests and the ocean. Discover community centers with great play areas, watch sea planes land at the world’s only sea plane airport, or explore the mighty Grouse Mountain, the city’s favourite skiing hill. Kids will love the aquabus ride to Granville Island, along with the city's fantastic public library, which has a play area, crayons and daily story times in multiple languages. Older children can take to the water by kayak or stand up paddleboard or try the mountain bike trails in local forests, and beaches and pools which come alive in the summer months.
