This sunny family pad, sleeping up to 6, is one of our best located residences in the city. With endless kid appeal, it is in the heart of one of Los Angeles' greatest streets. Best of all, it's just a 15 minutes walk from the beach. With three large bedrooms, one especially for kids, it suits a family with two to four children perfectly. The residence also has a lovely private front patio, lounge-diner with wooden floors and TV/DVD player and a kitchen set up for family catering. After a day spent playing in the sand, convene for dinner on the patio amid the fairy lights and wisteria. It's an easy space for a family stay in the city.

What we love

  • Great location: vintage stores, hip coffee houses, child-friendly restaurants and yoga studios are on your doorstep
  • Lovely private front patio for all sorts of activities including barbecues, lunches and marshmallow roasting over the fire pit
  • Three big bedrooms: 2 doubles and 1 kids twin room plus a playroom
  • Lovely touches include vintage chandeliers and Moroccan pouffs
  • 2 bathrooms, one with a tub, one with a shower
  • Toys include train sets, wooden blocks and beach toys for age 0-12
  • Family kitchen and lounge with cozy sofas, TV and DVD player
  • You can feel the breeze from the Pacific

The Abbot Kinney Residence is a charming property very walkable to the shops and restaurants in Venice. We enjoyed staying here with our son for a few days and would recommend it to other families, particularly those with older children.

Oh gosh, we loved our stay at the Abbot Kinney Residence! The apartment was perfect for our then-three-year-old, who was thrilled with the collection of toys, including those for the beach and the "Little Legos." Parking is easy, the kitchen is well-equipped, and the residence was an easy walk from the stellar restaurants and shops of Abbot-Kinney Boulevard. We wound up driving to the local beaches, but older kids would have been fine to walk. For travelers with small children and early bedtimes, we recommend enjoying takeout from GTA (Gjelina Take Away- with the windows open and a bottle of rose! Thank you, The Williams Family (Seattle, WA)

Venice Beach, Los Angeles

Canals and Beaches

Soak up the sights and sounds on foot or by bike at Venice’s Ocean Front Walk - a 2.5 mile impromptu stage full of colorful artists and characters. If you’re feeling brave, Venice beach is a great spot for beginner surfers, otherwise relax in the sand. When you’re done in the sun, explore the manmade canals modeled after its namesake in Italy. Watch for ducks as they dart through the many arched bridges over the canals.
