The Mariahilfer Residence is a beautiful place to stay and explore vienna. The tram station is across the street and several supermarkets are near by. The zoo and Schönbrunn castle are walking distance but there is a tram going there as well. The Westbahnhof is connected by a tram. The flat is stunning and was very clean and tidy. There were toys for smaller children. Monika helped us with any questions we had. The stunning photographs are her work.

Gorgeous apartment! We enjoyed spoiling ourselves in the sauna and the Vietnamese restaurant across the street. Great location, very easy to walk into the center of Vienna, including Naschmarkt and the museums. Lots of amenities that made our one year old comfortable.

We stayed here for two weeks with our 10-month old daughter while visiting family and friends. We absolutely loved this truly wonderful apartment. It's a bit shabbier than the photos but in exchange, has the feeling of a well-loved, well-inhabited home. There is everything you could need for a family of two children: two high chairs, a crib and bed, even a stroller for two, and the kitchen has kids spoons, plates, and sippy cups. Sure the apartment could probably use a new set of frying pans and sharper kitchen knives, but you get a fully stocked pantry and laundry/dishwasher/toilet paper/other household goods. It's just so obvious that a loving family lives here and we were lucky to have met both Harold and Monika in person--both are so sweet and helpful. Also, as new parents trapped indoors after the 7pm bedtime, the sauna is a godsend. :-) Thank you for the great stay and we would love to stay here again in the future!

We had a wonderful stay at the Mariahilfer Residence. Monika was very responsive over email and phone, and kindly welcomed us upon our arrival. She also left a stroller for us, as we wanted to travel as light as possible with our 4-year-old and 5-month-old sons. The apartment perfectly met our expectations: bright, spacious, well-decorated, kid friendly (many toys and a lovely tipi) and conveniently located (short walking distance to the underground, which can take you to any Vienna neighborhood within a few stops). Great fully-equipped kitchen and an original bathroom. We also appreciated the absence of TV for a week! The journey from and to the airport was easy, 30 minutes by bus. As we were lucky with the weather over this Easter break, we could even walk to Wieden, Neubau and the MuseumsQuartier with the children, who enjoyed the multitude of parks and playgrounds throughout the town. Beautiful apartment and lovely host... We would highly recommend that place to discover this beautiful city!

Vienna, Austria

High culture and happy kids

Classical city breaks don’t usually offer much for children - but Vienna’s different. From sightseeing trips by tram, boat, horse-drawn carriage and Segway, you can enjoy the architecture while they enjoy the ride. And then there’s the culture: specialist opera for kids sessions keep the music entertaining and under an hour long; the Haus de Musik offers an interactive approach to classical music and weekend workshops in the world-famous art galleries will have them making models from junk under paintings by the Masters. More typical kid-friendly appeal comes in the shape of the Prater amusement park and the Schonbrunn palace and zoos. It’s a city where high culture and small children can coexist happily.
