Perks for the Parents

This wonderful white-washed former mill surrounded by fig, pomegranate and cherry trees, lawns and pool is a relaxing space for a large family gathering, and can be booked for fewer guests for a reduced rate. In a great location for exploring inland Andalusia.

Why Kids Love it

With large gardens, a sports court, swimming pool, table tennis, sand pit, ducks and chickens, children are never bored at the Molino del Conde residence. It is 10 minutes from Lake Iznajar with its lakeside beach and bars and there is horse-riding available locally.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Out of main school holidays, the hosts offer discounts to families travelling with under 5s. One part of the property (5 bedrooms) is on a single level with no stairs. Guests can book El Molino del Conde exclusively and either self-cater or opt for full or partial catering. The pool is made safe for children; the residence has stair gates where necessary. It is well set up for those with younger children with plenty of babycare items available.

About the Location

The residence is in the heart of Andalusia within easy reach of Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda and Seville. The airports at Malaga and Granada are less than an hour away on very easy roads. The beautiful Lake Iznajar is only 15 minutes from home. In summer, you can swim in the lake, hire boats or simply enjoy lunch, drinks or ice cream at one of the lakeside bars. Car hire is recommended. Malaga and its beaches are an hour’s drive away.

Accommodation Details

This large Andalucian mill house has 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms and can be rented in full or in part, depending on the size of your family or party (as a 5-6 bedroom, 4 bathroom property). There is sitting room, indoor dining room, large kitchen, outdoor dining area, pool, tennis court, lawn and chickens. The 3 acres surrounding the property are rich with pomegranate, walnut, cherry, almond and fig trees.

Style Notes

El Molino del Conde maintains all the character of the old mill building, with high-beamed ceilings and whitewashed walls, while having newly-fitted kitchens and bathrooms. We love the beautiful rustic and stylish seating and large square dining table by the pool, the Moroccan-influenced wall sconces and crockery, the white walls and the beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces.

When our children were 3 (Josh) and 1 (Jasmine), we decided to take some time out of corporate life, buy a small place in Spain, travel and then go back to Bristol (in the South West of England) in time for Josh to start school (age 5). About a month later, we found El Molino del Conde, moved in (on Christmas Eve) and started the renovations ... 11 year later, we did finally return to live in the UK - in time for Josh to start his GCSE courses (age 14). We've always loved to travel, sail, camp with our children and having them spend time in the warm, friendly, relaxed culture of Spain was a joy we love sharing with other families who find their way to holiday at El Molino del Conde.

Malaga, Andalusia

Sunshine and sardines by the sea

From luxury villas in the hills to atmospheric narrow streets in the old town, Málaga is more than the capital of the Costa del Sol. Discover tapas bars in the historic center before walking around the new port to La Malagueta beach for sardine by the sea. Take the kids to the Picasso Museum for special children’s tours and workshops, and visit the Alazaba fortress and castles for views and a dose of history. Then lay back and enjoy the sunshine...
