Perks for the Parents

This fabulous family property is close to the very best part of the Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s most loved park, and includes a garden with trampoline, bathrooms with tubs and plenty of toys, books and space for everyone. Ideal for a large or smaller family, a family of 4 can stay together on the first floor (there is also an extra mattress for a 5th if necessary), and 2 extra rooms upstairs suit extra large families. In the garden, the kids can jump to their heart's' content on the trampoline with zipped net, all visible from the living area and well-equipped gourmet kitchen.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has lots of toys and books suitable for kids under 6, and is a great family space to hang out in. Baby supplies such as high chairs, strollers, monitors, etc can be provided upon request. The best place in the Vondelpark is at the end of the street - the Vondeltuin - with its lively outdoor café next to an enclosed large sandbox and playground. The hosts can provide a list of nearby child-friendly cafés and activities can be provided. The Amsterdamse Bos is a short bike ride away, with its myriad children's farms, bike paths, and water activities. All of the bathrooms have a bathtub, and toys abound in this home.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. Note that while the stairs are not gated, they are wide (not typical steep Amsterdam stairs!). A barrier at the first floor landing can be provided on request. There is plenty of paid street parking surrounding the house. No pets please. The Zuidermarkt farmers market on Saturdays is a 10-minute walk from the house.

About the Location

The house is in the Willemspark/Oud Zuid area of Amsterdam, around 20 minutes to the heart of the city. It is easy to get to from the airport and highway, with plenty of parking nearby, and is well located for the Vondelpark, cafés and restaurants in Oud Zuid, a 20-minute walk from the Museumplein, and the number 2 tram line to the center.

Accommodation Details

This spacious 5-bedroom house is set over 3 floors and has a garden. On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen, dining area, and living room filled with toys, plus access to the spacious garden. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, a large kids room with double bed, a small room with a cot bed, and a family bathroom with laundry. On the second floor there are 2 more bedrooms and a large shared bathroom with separate toilet.

Style Notes

Bright, light, and contemporary. The residence has hardwood floors throughout, a sleek modern kitchen complete with concrete countertops and high-end appliances, and simple yet stylish decor throughout. Brightly coloured accents and toys against a clean white backdrop make this home a perfect balance between adult sophistication and kid-friendly fun. We love the high ceilings, light-filled spaces and relaxing, welcoming and stylish main living space.

This property was centrally located in a wonderful neighborhood a stone's throw away from Vondelpark. It has an amazing little cafe at the end of the block with a playground for littles. The house was full of toys that had my three year old telling us that this was the best hotel ever. It had a total of 6 bedrooms that could be occupied, however we only used 4 of them. There were 3 bedrooms on the second floor and another 3 on the third floor. This house would definitely be perfect for 2 families or a larger family with 3 or 4 kids. The only thing to remain vigilant about during your stay were the stairs if you have toddlers or babies, which we had during our stay, but we managed fine with the kids only going upstairs for naps or for bedtime. Otherwise, the house was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Check-in was a breeze and so were using all the amenities the house offered. Emily, the host, answered all of our questions and was really helpful. We've already recommended it to friends planning to visit Amsterdam next summer.

The place was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious. It was well equipped for the days we wanted to have meals in, and really close to many restaurant options for meals out. The location of this place is just wonderful! The proximity to Voldenpark is incredible and so convenient. A small grocery store, wine shop, bakery, and various restaurants were within a couple of blocks and all very family friendly. It is also so conveniently located to tram line 2, which gets you to and from the center of town. Emily was a great and responsive host! It was hard to leave such an amazing city and location. Whoever thinks Amsterdam is for adults is nuts! We had an amazing time traveling with friends and kids!

Vondelpark, Amsterdam

Inline skating, weeping willows and multiple playgrounds

Ten million visitors a year can’t be wrong: the Vondelpark is Amsterdam’s largest city park, just to the south of Leidseplein and near some of the city’s key museums, and is one of its most popular family attractions. Play in multiple playgrounds sprinkled through its 120 acres, picnic, hire bikes or inline skates, or try outdoor art classes. P.C. Hoofstraat, around the east exit, is one of the city’s most desirable shopping streets, with concert halls, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum a couple of blocks away.
