In a family-friendly district close to the city center, this residence is close to main parks, museums, Amsterdam zoo and shops, and has public transport links into the city just a block away. It’s well kitted out for babies and children, with toys and books as well as all necessary equipment, and is particularly good for young families. Guests also have free access to WiFi.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for kids under 7. There are dressing up clothes (mostly boys - age 4-7) and there is a lot of space for playing and a children’s table. For babies there is a playpen. The terrace and shared courtyard is a perfect play and chill out area where you can also eat outside and use the hammock. The residence is a short walk from local playgrounds, cinema, parks and the Amsterdam zoo. The kids room is bright and colorful and has a toddler bed, a changing table and a crib. The living room is fully child-proofed with plenty of toys and provision for young children. A stroller and 2 Stokke high chairs are available.

Things to Know

The owner’s car may be available on request for a small additional fee. The residence has a large shared courtyard where children can play safely - young children may need supervision while playing on it.

About the Location

The residence is in the Watergraafsmeer/Science Park district of east/central Amsterdam, a vibrant family-friendly area with parks and playgrounds just around the block. Nearby you’ll find the Amsterdam Zoo, Tropenmuseum, local markets at the weekend, restaurants and child-friendly cafés. It is approximately 20 minutes from Schiphol airport and 15 minutes (by public transport) from city center.

Accommodation Details

This 2-bedroom 1-floor apartment on the ground floor of the building has a large open-plan lounge-diner and a spacious open eat-in kitchen, plus direct access to a private terrace and a large shared courtyard. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, and the children’s bedroom has a baby crib and toddlers bed, suitable for up to age 7. A double air bed can be added to the living room. The large bathroom has a sizeable sink, a bath, a rainfall shower and a second toilet.

Style Notes

The residence has a Scandinavian-style look, light and bright with sparkles of color, white walls, kids’ art and typical Dutch design products. Furnishings are modern mixed with vintage; the spacious, open kitchen is warm and filled with light. The building is modern, surrounded with glass and a 'must-see' for architecture addicts. We love the subtle cloud print wallpaper in the kids bedroom. The hosts recommend spending summer evenings on the quiet, private terrace.

Me, my husband Erick and two children (son of 8 yrs old and one 2 yr old daughter) are now living in Amsterdam for more than about 12 years. I was born and raised in and around Amsterdam. Currently I work as a creative communications manager at an academy for design & styling. My passions are drawing and singing. Erick works as a freelance Business Designer for innovative start ups and, besides, is a Personal Trainer (Sports) and creates tech house. Amsterdam is a great city to live in with your kids because of the variety in the city landscape. Our son loves to play outside on our private courtyard and play soccer with his friends. There's always a lot to do and the area we live in, Watergraafsmeer, has a lot of parks, playgrounds and child-friendly cafés. Sometimes we have to escape Amsterdam. We love to visit the sea. In the Netherlands we have a great coastline with great beachclubs (Bloemendaal & Castricum). When we leave the country we visit Ibiza/Formentera, Portugal, Italy and other great cities like Berlin, London and Paris. New York is on the wish list. We're fan of (cult) movies, good food (organic and fair), sport, soul music & tech house and nice books/magazines. As your hosts we can give you and your family all the ins and outs of Amsterdam, avoiding the typical touristic things and make you feel like an 'Amsterdammer' for a view days. We joined Kid & Coe because we would love to share all the beauty of Amsterdam with other families from all over the world.

We absolutely loved the Carolina Residence and Amsterdam in general. With two young kids it is always important for us to find a place that is comfortable to stay in since we will be there in the evenings and during naps. The apartment felt like home and both my wife and I enjoyed some very nice runs leaving from the front door. With rented bicycles it was easy to go anyway we wanted in the city from this location. We can't say enough good about the apartment, the host, and the city. Thanks!

Eva and Erick's apartment is a real find. It is located in the suburbs of Amsterdam, but is a short walk away from a variety of tram stops that whisk you into the centre of town quickly. A bonus is that there's a fantastic and child-friendly park a 5 - 10 minute walk just across the canal from the apartment. Erick also allowed us to use his bike (complete with child seat), which made the trip to the park even easier and fun! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Carolina Residence in early December 2015 with our 4 month old. The interior is designed and decorated very attractively, and overall is ideally set-up to stay with small children. Eva and Eric were very welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. The weather was a little on the dreary side, so we spent a good deal of time in the apartment, and as such we were very grateful to be in such accommodating and aesthetically appealing surroundings. It is worth noting that it can take some 30 minutes or so to reach the city centre if travelling on public transport, and so for very young children who don't sleep well on the move, it's worth considering how best to get about - but what you may lose in location you more than make up for in terms of the experience of staying in the spacious and modern residence itself. Highly recommended.

Vibrant, foodie and family-friendly

This area of east/central Amsterdam is vibrant, green and family friendly, with plenty of parks and playgrounds. It is near to Amsterdam Zoo, the ethnographic Tropenmuseum and plenty of local weekend markets. Nearby you’ll find canals, of course, along with the city’s science park, the Amstel train station and some wonderful restaurants, including De Kas and Dauphine.
