This one-floor residence on the first floor of a traditional Swiss chalet sleeps 4-6 and is cozy and packed with character. With stone walls and wood beamed ceilings, not to mention an antique fire and views over Zermatt village, it has plenty of alpine charm. There are three bedrooms, all ensuite and with double beds, along with a cozy lounge, characterful dining area and modern kitchen. The residence is right in the center of Zermatt, by the Church Square, and is just 7 minutes to the ski lifts. While it sleeps up to 6, the bedrooms are on the small side and it just as happily accommodates smaller groups.

What we love

  • This residence has true alpine charm, with weathered wood panelling, local granite walls, wooden beams and an antique stone fireplace
  • The lounge is cozy after a day out in the snow, with a large red leather sofa, TV and views of the village plus a framed retro tourist poster of the town on the wall
  • The three snug bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms, two with luxury showers and the other with a unique corner bath with wood panelling
  • Two of the bedrooms have double beds; the other has a double bed that can be made up as a twin
  • The dining area is also character-packed, with a unique table, modern light fittings and a wooden hatch into the kitchen area plus french windows to the balcony
  • The sleek modern kitchen has sliding doors on to the same balcony, with views of Zermatt
  • It’s a good location in the center of the village, by the Church Square, walking distance from shops, bars and restaurants
  • It’s also convenient for the slopes with ski lifts just 7 minutes away
  • While the property sleeps a maximum of 6, it’s equally good for smaller parties

Zermatt, Swiss Alps

the mountain mecca

This famed mountaineering and skiing town has the longest winter ski season in Europe, running to early May, and nine of the ten highest mountains in Europe, including the pyramid-shape of the Matterhorn. The cobbled town is a car-free zone and connections to the closest slopes are easy, by electric taxi or horse-drawn sleigh. Ski schools nearby take kids from age 4.
