Wandsworth, London

Leafy Wandsworth, in London's south-west corner, is known for it's family-friendly feel, giving it the nickname of 'Nappy Valley'. Weekend markets fill the streets, buzzing Northcote Road packs out with family diners, and kids scoot on down to Wandsworth Common for fresh air - all just a short stroll away from the River Thames.

We had a wonderful stay at the toast rack. The owner had pre sent us a full schedule of information on the house so everything was smooth for us. The house is SO beautiful and welcoming. We really felt at home. The house had been prepared for our arrival and we instantly settled in. I would definitely return to this home.

Leanne very kindly stepped into the breach when our previous booking was cancelled at the last moment. She was unfailingly helpful in accommodating us as we were a slightly larger family than she would normally accept. The house is beautiful, with a lovely small back garden with lots of activities for the children (we had 4 grandchildren with us ranging from 9 to 8 months). The basement is huge and my son really appreciated the gym - just the thing to help the nervousness of getting married the following day! We slept in the master bedroom which has an enormous and very comfortable emperor bed along with an impressive bathroom and dressing area. The kitchen is beautiful with an Aga as well as conventional cooking facilities - as I've used an Aga for the last 25 years (although a traditional model rather than this one) I was very at home, however other guests might benefit from a user guide!, the addition of air-conditioning here and in some of the bedrooms really helped on a couple of the warmer days. The proximity to Wandsworth Common (just at the end of the road) meant we were able to take short walks there for the children to let off steam, meet friends and play in the playground. The Toast Rack would give any family a lovely base for a stay in London, I can't recommend it more highly.
