Perks for the Parents

This stunning Mid Century open plan house has a pool, fabulous views, 13 acres and a pond and is perfect for a country getaway to remember. Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, the decor is Mid Century modern. There is a hot tub with views of the fields, the pond has a rowboat and the pool is perfect for lazy family afternoons. The basement playroom has sports for all the family. Speakers throughout the house are connected to WiFi and each zone has its own volume control. The barbecue by the pool has view of Mohonk preserve.

Why Kids Love it

This beautiful home has plenty to offer children, from the pool and trampoline in the garden to the woods, spacious lawns and outdoor games. There is a zipline and plenty of indoor games too. Films can be watched in a projector room. There is a basement play room with foosball, indoor basketball and air hockey. Nearby treats include farms, nature trails and swimming holes. Toys and books are provided along with pool toys and floats; there are limited babycare items, but space to bring your own. There is a small dingy for the pond.

Things to Know

Minimum stay of 5 nights preferred. The house accommodates 8 guests comfortably. There no smoking permitted in the house. Dogs are welcome for an extra fee. Guests have the whole house to themselves with the hosts available for any questions. Note some small issues for parents: there are stairs up to the entrance and side of the house. Stair gates can be provided on request. Kitchen and wall sockets are not child proofed. The pool has an electric pool cover and is fenced. The pond is not fenced and there are no life jackets for the dingy. Children may need to be watched around the water areas and must be supervised on the zipline.

About the Location

This residence is in Accord, 5 minutes from Stone Ridge and High Falls and 35 minutes from Woodstock. There are lots of farms, restaurants, hiking and skiing nearby. It is approximately 2 hours’ drive from New York City. If you don't have a car, transportation is easy: a bus takes you from the city (Port Authority) to Rosedale which is 15 minutes away. There is a grocery store and pharmacy 10 minutes’ drive away in Stone Ridge. There are no shortage of farm stands and antique shops selling rustic country to Mid Century Modern.

Accommodation Details

The house has 3 bedrooms: a master suite with jacuzzi bath tub plus a double bedroom with queensize bed and single bed and a double bedroom with queensize bed and double sofa bed. There is a sofa bed in the library and a double air bed can be added. There is a great room/ open plan living space, kitchen, outdoor and indoor dining areas, 3 bathrooms and outdoor space including a hot tub, pool, pond and gardens.

Style Notes

This Frank Lloyd Wright-influenced Mid Century home is made for entertaining. The floor to ceiling windows along the great room and kitchen bring the outside in and make it light throughout. There is an inviting layout. The house is furnished with Mid-century furniture throughout. We love the great room, with its egg chair and large orange beanbag to lounge on, and the area around the pool, ideal for family dining in summer.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We have 3 girls, 9,10, and 12. They love playing in the forest at the big swing, or down at the creek, or jumping on the trampoline, or in summer swimming all day. The house is super kid and dog friendly and its all about chilling out, grilling, sitting by the camp fire, or inside in winter next to the 2 fireplaces. This house was made with love and now we share to with you.

Two hours north of New York City, this quiet area of historic farms, pick-your-own pumpkins and traditional small towns makes for a relaxing break. Join the kids and go wild in the country, climbing trees, eating cider donuts, watching bald eagles soar, playing in meadows and hiking nature trails.

This is an absolutely lovely home and location - we had a great time hiking, swimming in the pool and exploring the neighboring towns. A highlight is the garden with fresh vegetables and herbs which Grey and his family generously allowed us to pick and eat.
