One of six stone cottages in a rural area of Andalusia, this residence sleeps up to 2 adults and 4 children plus a baby and is a wonderful spot for sun worshippers and active families alike. Near to fantastic walking territory, it’s not just a rural retreat but caters well for families with a pool, games, bikes and plenty more on site to hire, including donkeys for guided treks. The residence itself is a classic rustic cottage, with wooden beams, a sunny terrace with views and plenty of typical tiles. With space for 4 children in two bright bedrooms upstairs, and a master bedroom downstairs, it's well equipped for a family stay.

What we love

  • It’s a classic rustic retreat, nestled in the mountains with plenty to keep kids occupied including a pool
  • The vibrant colors, from the painted tiles to the bedspreads, are full of Spanish flair
  • Outdoor games include chess, boules and ping pong
  • Walking routes and itineraries of the local area are also available from the knowledgeable owners
  • The stone cottage is surrounded by gardens and has a shaded sun terrace
  • The ground floor has the sitting and dining room and well-equipped kitchen, and has underfloor heating
  • There’s a shared music and movie library for all cottages in the complex
  • Two upstairs bedrooms have twin beds and overlook the living room
  • Downstairs, there’s a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower
  • There’s a lovely sunny terrace with great views of the surrounding countryside
  • Along with staying in a lovely rustic stone cottage in a beautiful part of Spain, you can hire donkeys by the hour for guided treks through the countryside

Alájar, Andalusia

Whitewashed cottages and mountain views

This pretty whitewashed village is one of the jewels in the Sierra de Aracena natural park, the largest park in Andalusia and is inland and in the mountains. It’s a great foodie spot, with restaurants and bars serving up the best of Andalusian cuisine.
