Perks for the Parents

This charming newly-renovated bungalow, sleeping up to 8 adults plus a young child, is under 2km from the beach and 15 minutes by bus from central Copenhagen. The property is close to public transport links. Copenhagen is a great city for families with city boat rides, museums and a great beach with a lot of activities during the summer. The hosts are able to offer bikes and advice on what to see and do. The high ceilings, wooden floors and open-plan living make it ideal for young families.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of games and toys for kids under 12. There is a large back garden with a trampoline and space to play, and the beach is a 1.5 km cycle ride or bus ride away, with local playgrounds close by. There is great space with a large living room large enough for wheels and toys. The kids rooms are big, bright and homely. The house has 2 high chairs and a bathtub.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. The home has stairs with no stair gate, and there is a bath and a bathtub. There is free parking in front of the house. There is good public transit and you can cycle on safe bicycle lanes into the city and to the beach. Bikes are available for 2 adults ages 16 and up and 3 children age 6, 9 and 11. Car rental is not essential for this destination.

About the Location

The residence is in Amager, a suburb to the south of Copenhagen close to a large sandy beach. It is a little out of the city but there are easy routes into cultural centers, shopping districts and the city at large. Copenhagen Central station is 5 km away and is easily accessible by bus and taxi in around 10 minutes. You can easily access all the attraction the inner city of Copenhagen by bus or metro. Free parking is available in front of the building. The hosts can lend bikes to get around (by far the best way to explore the city). Copenhagen Kastrup airport is a 10-minute drive away.

Accommodation Details

This 5-bedroomed bungalow is set over 3 floors and has 2 bathrooms. The main floor has a large open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. There is access from the living room to a garden and 2 terraces. There is a master bedroom on the main floor with a kingsize bed. The second floor has 3 bedrooms, each with a single bed and one of them with a daybed, plus a children’s bedroom with a toddler bed suitable for children under 5. There is also a bathroom with tub on this level. The basement has a bath with washer and a dryer, and a room with a double sofa bed, big television and a playStation. There is a private back garden with seating and a trampoline.

Style Notes

Bright, light, and modern. The owners love design, and everything they have is functional as well as beautiful. The bungalow dates to 1936 and has been fully renovated in Danish design style. It includes modern designer furniture, paintings and playful color accents in the kids rooms. The open-space kitchen dining room has a fireplace along with wood beams to add a dash of hygge. We love the location for summer fun at the beach, and the warm and welcoming spaces for a family looking for fun and space in the city.

We have 3 boys who are 6, 9 and 12 years old. We are working as VP in a Shared Servicecenter in the Municipality of Copenhagen and as HR Business Partner . We love to travel around the world and hang out with the kids in the city and by the beach.

Amager, Copenhagen

Sand, sea and contemporary design

This suburb of south Copenhagen is a bus ride from the center and is close to one of the city’s most family-friendly spots - Amager beach. It’s busy all summer long with families playing in the fine sand and clear water, Cycle or scoot along the boardwalk to Kastrup Sea Baths, an architectural treasure where you can swim in the sea beside a curved wooden deck and look out to Sweden across the Øresund Sound. Amager has a growing reputation for interesting foodie joints too, and some great ice cream shops in summer.
