Perks for the Parents

This spacious and unique former bath house in the up and coming north area of Amsterdam is a great place for a family stay. It sleeps 8 + 2. As a remodeled bath house turned family home, it has quirky and attractive features including double-height ceilings in the loft-style living space and retro tiling. With so much space, it works well for 2 families or a group of friends traveling together. A studio on the ground floor has recently been converted to a master bedroom with a rain shower and a guest room with private shower on the ground floor would be perfect for accompanying grandparents or a nanny.

Why Kids Love it

Lots of toys, games and items are provided for children, including cribs, high chairs, and children’s bikes, and there is a lot of space to play, inside and out. There are 2 parks nearby within easy walking distance. There are 3 kids’ bedrooms in the house including one with a cozy bed that's built directly into the wall. A travel crib is also available.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. Unlike most of Amsterdam, this residence is in a free parking area. WiFi is throughout. The stairs are open so may be a challenge for small children. Stair gates can be provided. Car rental is not advisable for visiting the city – parking in Amsterdam is difficult, stressful and expensive. All main cities are reachable within a less than a 1-hour drive: Utrecht (30 minutes) Den Haag (40 minutes) Rotterdam (1 hour). The host has 2 cats, who will need feeding during your stay. This property is not suitable for those with cat allergies.

About the Location

The property is 15 minutes’ drive from the center of Amsterdam in the Amsterdam Noord district, separated from the city by a canal with access via ferry or a tunnel. There are 2 playgrounds and a free kiddie pool within a 5-minute walk. There is a 15-minute direct bus connection into Amsterdam Central, from which the city center is walking distance away. The free ferry is a 5 to 10-minute bike ride or a 15 to 20-minute stroll away. The scenic ferry ride over the IJ canal takes 5 minutes. The neighborhood is quiet, residential and family friendly. It is 20 minutes’ drive from Schiphol airport.

Accommodation Details

This 5-bedroom family home has a main open plan living space with lounge, family kitchen and dining area, plus a large terrace with outdoor dining and toys. There is a master bedroom on the ground floor with kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. On this floor is another guest room with queensize bed and private shower and 1 children's room with single bed. Upstairs is 1 children's room with 2 children's beds (for smaller children), 1 children's room with a single bed, built in the wall, 1 additional sleeping place in an open nook with a window but no door, with a French bed (1.20 similar to a double). The main family bathroom has a freestanding tub and walk-in shower.

Style Notes

Highly individual, eclectic space. This utterly unique home offers fantastically high ceilings and plenty of light, along with large spaces to play in. The slanted roof ceilings give a cute and quirky appeal to a number of rooms. The whole property is light and white with wooden flooring and bespoke finishes, including industrial-style lighting and tiled walls and bathrooms. We love the spacious, high-ceilinged living area, the freestanding soaking tub in the family bathroom and the cozy, colorful bedrooms.

Hi, we are the Reeuwijk Family and we live in a former communal bath house in the upcoming North part of Amsterdam. We invite you and your family to come explore our city from our family home! Amsterdam is a very family friendly city, with lots of parks, playgrounds, the beautiful Artis Zoo and lots of museums with special activities for kids. Plus, gorgeous other towns like Haarlem, The Hague or Utrecht are less than an hour away! Our area is one of the last ones that still offers FREE public parking; great in case you want to take the family out of town and rent a car. Located behind the upcoming NDSM area, our residence offers the convenience of a smaller residential neighborhood with the city rumble and bumble within close reach. Raising four children between 5-13 years old in this city, I love to share my personal favorite spots and tips and tricks to get the most out of your trip. Be our guest!

We have had a great time in the Meteorenweg Residence. The house is really big, with a lot of light and toys for the kids. Natasja and her husband were very friendly and responsive. The house is not in the center of Amsterdam, but with the bus just next to the house, it is easy to go there. Thank you for our stay. The Naudin family.

Awesome experience at the Meteorenweg Residence. Natasja incredibly friendly and efficient - a great hostess to have in Amsterdam. The old bath house is a crazy, exciting and I imagine somewhat treacherous building in the wrong hands - there is a stair in the middle of the large front room with no bannisters, and although there is a stair gate provided we did fret slightly overtime our three year old bounded up to the top rooms. Still, no accidents, a bit of a thrill for the kids and overall a great family place. The chickens were a fantastic addition, as were the scooters, the travel information, the use of the stroller and the lovely wine on arrival. I'd recommend to all. Thanks for our stay, The Dickson Family

Natasja has a very special property that had a million and one things to do for the kids. She was also an incredibly kind and helpful host. We enjoyed our time in the house very much and found the commute into Amsterdam very easy.

The main room is really as big and wonderful as on the picture. The equipment for the children is abundant. Our host Natasja was very friendly, open, honest and supportive. We had a great time. For our setup (2 adults, children 2/7/9 years) it was absolutely perfect.

We had a fantastic time at the Meteorenweg Residence. It is a very quirky and charismatic property and our daughter fell in love with the endless supply of toys available. Our hosts were very friendly and responsive and you could tell they genuinely wanted us to have a good time. We would definitely stay here again.

Amsterdam-Noord, Amsterdam

From blue collar to white hot

This former industrial neighborhood has become the city's new creative hotspot, where former shipyards have been turned into artists studios and innovative architecture flourishes. It's about 20 minutes from the center of Amsterdam by ferry or car, and has waterfront properties as well as large suburban houses.
