Perks for the Parents

This colorful villa on the island of Andros has a separate studio apartment, outdoor dining in a lush garden and sweeping views over the Aegean Sea. It sleeps up to 8 + 1. Families who like to eat al fresco and sunbathe will enjoy the large terrace with sea views, a BBQ and 2 outdoor dining areas. There is a separate 1-bedroom guesthouse ideal for a nanny, grandparents or another family or group. There are plenty of nearby beaches to explore that are great for swimming and snorkeling. Aneroussa Beach is just 8 minutes’ drive.

Why Kids Love it

The main house is flat, with open spaces where children can play freely. There’s a childproof yard ideal for biking, skating and playing ball with swings and hammocks, too. The Olive Tree Residence is situated in a unique gated rural property, which children can explore and be in touch with Mediterranean nature, smell flowers and pick lemons, apricots and figs from the trees. The kids’ bedroom is cozy with mosquito nets and its own bathroom. A crib, high chair, play mat, 2 car seats for ages 3 to 8 are provided. Bicycles for children aged 3 to 7 are available on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. The veranda has a drop-off but is fenced – children should be supervised. The guest house is not fenced. There are some steps between levels but no internal stairs. Toddlers should be careful around some sharp corners. There is one air conditioner located between the bedrooms to cool them both when room doors are open. There is a parking area right next to the main house. Bed linens and towels are provided. Please note that there is no bath tub at this property. Pets are not allowed. Other amenities include a dishwasher and washer / dryer.

About the Location

The villa is located in the area of Alikandros, a 10 minute-drive from the tourist hub of Batsi, on the island of Andros. Batsi has bars, restaurants, boutique shops and a golden sand beach. Andros, the island’s picturesque main town, is 30 minutes’ drive and has lots of dining options and the remains of a Venetian castle. Andros is the second closest Cycladic island to the mainland. To get there, fly to Athens International Airport and catch a taxi or bus to the port of Rafina. From here, it’s a 2-hour ferry ride to the port of Gavrio. The house is 11 km (approx. 20 mins) away. There is no airport on the island itself.

Accommodation Details

This villa has 3 bedrooms in total – 2 in the main house and 1 in the separate apartment. The main villa is on 1 level and comprises an open plan kitchen, living area with a fireplace and a dining table seating up to 4. Also in the main villa on the same floor is 1 double bedroom and 1 kids’ room with 2 twin / singles. All doors in the living area open up to the terrace. The studio apartment has an independent entrance and has a living area with a double futon, a kitchen, and 1 queensize bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Outside is a paved terrace with a BBQ, outdoor dining and sun loungers.

Style Notes

Quirky, colorful, scenic. This house has been recently built in a traditional style. It sits in a large, lush Mediterranean garden blooming with bougainvillea and olive, fig and citrus trees. High on a hillside, the stone-tiled terrace with the built-in stone table is the ideal place to start and end the day, with a traditional Greek breakfast or sipping local wine while watching the sun disappear into the deep blue of the Aegean. We love the green accents on the shutters, doors and door frames that zing against the white interior walls, the light-filled living/ dining area, and the fun, bubblegum-pink bathroom.

Andros, Greek Islands

Seashells, beaches and ruined castles

Spend your days seashell hunting on sandy beaches, walking in olive groves and wandering around dramatic and romantic castles on Andros, the northernmost of the Cyclades Islands, west of mainland Greece. It’s a beautiful island with winding mountain routes, secret rocky and sandy beaches and gin clear water to splash in all day. The island has museum of contemporary art plus archaeology museums and a ruined Venetian fortress.
