Minimum stay: 1 night. The hotel has 29 traditional rooms and 2 self-contained apartments which are ideal for families, each sleeping 4 or 5. Extra beds may added to certain rooms, depending on the room type. Rates range from 145€/night to 255€/night. The apartments benefit from hotel services, such as cleaning and access to the spa, gym and swimming pool. Please note the pool is shared with the hotel guests and accessed via steps. The gym is adults only. The family apartments are on the 1st floor, with no elevator. The hosts do allow pets on request, but they are restricted to certain areas within the hotel and there is an additional fee. Mountain bikes or road bikes are available to hire, and there are 3 family-friendly bike routes in the forests.

About the Location

This property is located in Mafra, Portugal, close to the villages of Gradil and Barras. This is a rural area, so car hire is recommended. It’s 20 minutes’ drive to Torres Vedras, 15 minutes’ drive to the historic town of Mafra (for shops, supermarkets and restaurants) and 30-40 minutes’ drive to the city of Lisbon. Lisbon airport is around half an hour’s drive. Portugal’s capital city is picturesque and easy to explore on foot or by tram - a great day out for fans or history or architecture. Take a trip to one of the city center’s art galleries, explore the family-friendly museums of science and natural history, or journey to the Calçada da Glória, a road lined with urban street art. If you’re ready to relax at the beach, visit the coastal resort of Ericeira (20 minutes’ drive) for a choice of restaurants, family-friendly attractions, seafront parks and surf schools.

The hotel has 29 rooms and two 2-bedroom family apartments, which can be booked together or individually. Hotel: choose from double/twin, classic, superior or deluxe rooms. All rooms have a walk-in shower, TV, WiFi, patio/solarium, heating in winter and fans in summer, hairdryer, kettle, tea, coffee and cookies. Deluxe rooms also have bathrobes and slippers. Apartment 1: a master bedroom with 1 double bed, a second bedroom with 1 single bed, and a living room with single sofabed (sleeps 4). Apartment 2: 2 double rooms and a single sofabed in the living room (sleeps 5). Both of the family apartments have a fully-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, private bathroom with shower (no bath), balcony, living room with flat-screen TV, WiFi and dining area.

Style Notes

Farmhouse hotel. Known as the Casa da Bela Portuguesa, the rooms are set in a 400-year old farmhouse, which has been renovated to include a mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings. Rooms feature hardwood floors and rustic décor, with sunny balconies and traditional Portuguese white walls. We love the thick stone window seats, the original wooden shutters and the traditional dark wood furniture.
