You and the Sea is kid-friendly and has an indoor play area for little ones, also providing toys, children’s TV channels and games. Kids will love the choice of 2 pools in the summer and it overlooks the sandy Praia do Sol beach, which is an 8-minute stroll. There are plenty of surf schools to choose from to learn to ride the waves, or have a go at stand-up paddleboarding on the river. Try scuba diving, cycling, fishing or windsurfing – you’ll find almost every watersport on offer here in high season. You can take the kids to almost all of the restaurants in town – the Portuguese love children - and there are kids' menu options at the Jangada restaurant on site.

About the Location

You and the Sea is located overlooking the beach of Praia do Sul in Ericeira, western Portugal. It is a sheltered spot and the beach has a bathing pool made from rocks, which is ideal for young children. Ericeira is a charming fishing village transformed into a popular weekend getaway and a surfing haven. It’s known for its seafood and fabulous restaurants, lounge bars and cafes, and relaxed, easy-going ambience. Surrounding sandy beaches are excellent. Break up your trip to Lisbon with a vacation by the sea – the nearest airport is Lisbon’s Portela Airport, which is approximately 30 minutes with the hotel’s free airport transfer.

Style Notes

Hipster cool, surfer chic. This newly built, modern hotel is welcoming with a relaxed vibe. All of the apartments have high quality bed linens and are decorated in neutral whites with soft blues and sunny yellows that echo the beach. Furniture is mid-century modern in style with soft, colorful rugs strewn on wooden floors. The lovely Jangada Restaurant has a view of the sea and uses recycled wood and iron for decorative detail. We love the fish mural and other sea-inspired wall art dotted playfully throughout the hotel, the swimming pool with a view, and the fabulous facilities on-site.

Payment policy
30% of the total cost of the stay is required from the guest credit card up front upon booking for all requests more than 6 weeks in advance. We request the remaining 70% at 6 weeks before check in. Booking of 6 weeks or less away require 100% of the total payment of the stay up front.
Cancellation policy
Reservations cancelled or altered with more than 2 days notice are without penalty to the guest; Cancellations with less than 2 days before the arrival have a penalty of 100% of the total booking. In case of a no-show or early departure, the full amount of the reservation will be charged. In addition to the host’s policy which is listed here, all cancellations are subject to a Kid & Coe cancellation fee of 15% of the booking total.

We had a great stay at the You and the Sea Residence. The 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment was super spacious and well appointed and great value for the size. We were very comfortable! Highlights included the amazing garden / football pitch / playground / skate ramp! across the street that are for the exclusive use of hotel guests. The beach is small but only a short walk away and the charming village of Ericeira about a 15 minute walk with lots of good restaurants. We navigated it easily with my 13, 10 and 4 year old. We coupled the trip with time in Lisbon but I think having a car would be a good idea to explore the neighboring areas if you were going to stay for longer than a few days. The pool is half inside - half outside which is a little awkward. More seating around the pool and in the grassy area outside to accommodate guests would be welcome. The breakfast was delicious as were the pizzas but the overall menu was a little limited. It's not a resort type hotel stay but overall it's a great choice for a more adventurous family who likes to explore.
