Perks for the Parents

The bright and sunny family home in Atwater Village comes with a huge array of kids toys and is just minutes away from some of LA’s best attractions. It sleeps 6 + 2. Chill out in the grassy front yard that overlooks the famous California sunset, or spend your days in the kid-friendly backyard, which has a playhouse and mud kitchen along with lounge furniture and an 8-foot dining table for entertaining. For parents-only evenings, the living room is an excellent movie-watching space with a deep-seated couch and a 42" Apple TV - perfect for tired travelers. If you can manage some time away from the kids, the house is a peaceful 10-minute walk to cafes, restaurants, bars, boutique shops, a gym and yoga studio.

Why Kids Love it

The living room is used as a modern, sunny playroom, with an assortment of toys and books for kids aged 6 and under. There's also a Piklar triangle for climbing and the thick living room carpet (with extra padding underneath) is great for floor play and tumbles. The children's bedroom has even more toys and books, a play kitchen, a bunk bed with sturdy steps (not a ladder) for multi-level play and a rocking arm chair which is ideal for bedtime reading. The nursery also has a rocking arm chair for quiet baby bedtimes. The house is near to several parks and playgrounds including the host’s favorite indoor play place, My Gym (sign up for classes online). Ask the hosts about borrowing additional extra kit, such as: a high chair, booster seat, baby bath, travel crib, bed guard, scooter, stroller or balance bike. And please feel free to request anything not listed!

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Safety notes: there are 3 steps to the front porch and main entrance and the house has security cameras fixed at the exteriors of the front and back doors. The front yard is partially fenced in for privacy and the backyard is completely fenced in. The driveway is narrow and parks only 1 car, however street parking is free and always available, with Wednesday and Friday alternate street parking (the street signs are well placed and easy to follow). The garage is not accessible during stays. The hosts use a house manager to take out the trash bins every Wednesday evening and return them every Thursday evening, so the driveway needs to be clear during these times. (Don’t worry if you forget - but the house manager may knock or call to remind you to move your car if it's blocking in the bins). Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property. Quiet hours are between 10pm-8am.

About the Location

The home is located in family-friendly Atwater Village, a tree-lined neighborhood, in Los Angeles. It’s within walking distance of cafes, restaurants and boutique shops on Glendale Boulevard and Glendale train station. Just a five-minute drive away you’ll find Griffith Park, with multiple playgrounds, picnic areas, a merry-go-round, a children's train ride, a pony ride, petting zoo, hiking trails and more! This vast park is also home to the LA Zoo, the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Sign. The area also offers a nearby public pool and splash pad. Warner Bros, Disney and Universal Studios are all 10 minutes away; downtown Hollywood and the Hollywood Bowl are 15 minutes’ drive. It’s around half an hour away from the west coast beaches and LAX airport is a 45-minute drive (dependent on traffic).

Accommodation Details

The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, all set on 1 floor. There is an open plan living/dining room with a spacious well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms include: a primary bedroom with a California kingsize bed, a children’s bedroom with a set of single bunk beds, and a nursery with a crib plus a changing table. The washer and dryer are located in the back hallway, near the children's room. The hosts also have a queensize raised airbed (which can be added to any room) and a travel crib. The main bedroom and first children's bedroom both feature ensuite bathrooms, with a third shared bathroom for guests - 2 bathrooms have a walk-in shower, the other has a bathtub.

Style Notes

Family crash pad. This bright, sunny and modern home has a relaxed feel - the perfect retreat from the busy city nearby. It’s decorated with soothing, neutral colors in the main bedroom and nursery, with playful primary color accents in the children's rooms. The home is well suited to families with young children, featuring all modern appliances and mid-century furniture. We love the chevron pattern walls in the third bathroom, the deep pile rugs adding a cozy, welcoming touch, and that spectacular backyard filled with amazing kids entertainment.

Hi, I'm Katy. My husband, Ryan and I are originally from the east coast (Maine & Maryland). We live in Los Angeles now, where we both work in film production. We have two boys, Robin and River who like dinosaurs and building forts (but who doesn't!).

Atwater Village, Los Angeles
