Stay at this stylish mid century home in Zilker Park, Austin with a heated pool, kids playground and home gym. It sleeps 8 + 2. This home is a great set up for kids, with 2 bathtubs and great sound separation for different sleeping areas. The guest room has a desk plus exterior insulation - ideal for grandparents, working-from-home or a nanny/au pair - and parents can work out in the gym after bedtimes.
Why Kids Love it
There’s lots to keep kids entertained here, including a wide range of musical instruments, books for up to elementary school age, a wide range of Montessori toys, puzzles, and art supplies, as well as board games for older kids and adults. The hosts have 2 stokke Tripp trapp high chairs, a changing table, diaper pails, learning tower, kids dinnerware items and bath toys. For some fresh air, it’s just 10 minutes’ walk to biking and hiking trails, parks and playgrounds along the river.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 4 nights. Safety notes: it has a fully fenced front yard, keyless entry and alarm systems for all doors and windows, including those around the pool area. The house is single story with no stairs. The 5th bedroom is currently used as a gym, the hosts can add a crib, twin bed, or travel crib in there if needed. There is space to park up to 5 cars - car rental is recommended but not essential. There is a level 2 charging station for an electric car. The pool is heated and there is an outdoor shower and a Green Egg BBQ.
About the Location
This residence is located less than 1 block from the corner of Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. It’s a 2-minute walk from Barton Springs where there is 3 acres of swimming, parks and hiking trails - you can walk downtown along the Lady Bird Lake Trail in 25 minutes. Visit Butler Metro Park for an open air theater or pitch-and-putt, head to the Austin Central Library, explore the Zilker Botanical Gardens or take the kids to Austin Nature & Science Center - all within walking distance. The airport is around 20 minutes’ drive; Austin train station is 30 minutes’ walk.
Accommodation Details
The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set on 1 floor. You’ll find a large kitchen/dining area, (with a sub zero fridge, Anova combi oven and ILVE stove). For parents, there’s a giant primary suite with a kingsize bed, large soaking tub and walk-in shower. The second guest room has a queensize bed and a Montesorri floor single bed; the third guest room has a queensize bed. The children’s room has a single bed and a crib. The gym can be converted into a bedroom, if needed, with a crib/travel crib or a twin bed.
Style Notes
Mid century modern. This 1955 A.D. Stenger house boasts incredible period details as well as all the modern conveniences for family living. The hosts have chosen lots of vintage furniture mixed with tasteful contemporary pieces, framed by a stylish backdrop of exposed wooden boarding and stone walls.. We love the mint green cabinetry, the colorful outdoor kitchen and the retro rainbow rug.
