When you’re ready to explore, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Congress Ave shopping district and close to the SFC Farmers Market. Five minutes in any direction will lead you to fantastic new restaurants, quirky bars, incredible museums, and more in this iconic capital city.
Why Kids Love it
While there are no toys or books for little ones here, there’s a fully equipped kitchen for any-time snacks and plenty of space to play both indoors and outdoors in the fenced-in yard. The hosts can also provide a high chair or travel crib on request. It’s 15 minutes’ walk from the Museum of the Weird (full of fun peculiarities!) and just a few minutes on foot to the biking and hiking trails that run along the Colorado River. Cross over to visit Butler Metro Park, which has outdoor theater and music venues, a children’s playground and night-lit fountains.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 2 nights. This home is professionally managed with hosts available around the clock to answer questions or provide assistance where needed. Guests will access the property through the back alley between 2nd and 3rd street. There is a one-way street on the west side of the alley that guests need to be aware of. Once in the back alley, guests will unlock the padlock and open the gate to allow cars to come inside. Guests are strictly prohibited from accessing the main house on the property. The owner lives here separately. Tall fences line the property to ensure privacy for guests. There is a large gate that opens to the driveway and garage, so guests will open this with a padlock and then can bring cars within the fence. House rules: no candles or open flames, no smoking, no pets, no outdoor shoes inside the house. Please lock all doors and windows when you leave and keep the furniture where it is currently placed. Violation of house rules will result in a $1000 fine each time.
About the Location
The property is situated minutes from downtown Austin, Texas. It’s close to Rainey street historic district, Zilker Park and Barton Springs, as well as many more vibrant and bustling parts of the city. The house is secluded within the block, allowing guests to experience the fun of the urban environment while still providing a private respite whenever needed. Please note this property is located in urban Austin. While the hosts make every effort to make the property as safe, elegant, and private as possible, they do not have the ability to control what happens outside of the property. Visit the nearby Ballet Austin, Central Library or Texas Toy Museum! The city metro system provides routes to many parts of the city. Uber and Lyft are also very readily available and affordable. Austin airport is around 15 minutes’ drive or half an hour by train.
Accommodation Details
This residence has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Upon opening the front door, guests will step into a warm and welcoming open plan kitchen, dining and entertainment space. The kitchen includes every amenity you can imagine for guests who like to prepare their own food while traveling: mixing bowls, baking sheets, tons of pots and pans, a coffee maker, spices, wine glasses, and many more items are available. In the garage, guests will find a washer and dryer along with laundry supplies and an area for organization. Other cleaning supplies such as a vacuum, swiffer, and step stool can also be found here. Upstairs on the second floor, you’ll find the primary bedroom (with a kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom and closet) and a guest bedroom (with a queensize bed, adjacent bathroom with tub and closet). Next to this room there is a patio with great views of downtown Austin.
Style Notes
Industrial chic. This neutral yet contemporary space has a relaxing feel, with a few edgy notes to reference the urban environment. Black window frames and dark hairpin leg furniture look stylish and have a mid-century feel, while soft grays, whites and natural fabrics look relaxing and inviting. We love the gorgeous walk-in shower in the primary bathroom, the unique slanted ceilings in the upstairs rooms adding character and the contrasting pillar-box red exterior doors.
