This is a nature-lovers dream home, 20 minutes from downtown Austin with 1 acre of land and access to a tranquil creek. It sleeps 8 + 1. Retreat to this secluded property which has been designed with families in mind - there’s plenty of space for grandparents or a nanny, and it even has a dedicated children’s bedroom and play room. Parents will love the peaceful home office with picturesque views of the surrounding countryside, as well as the must-have JURA espresso machine and peace of mind that comes with a home security system.

Why Kids Love it

This home is a perfect play land for children. There’s a large front and back yard, with no immediate neighbors, a Moises swing and toddler-sized sand pit, as well as a separate playroom for toys and a large screened TV indoors. There’s also easy access to a creek below, which is great for hiking, frog spotting or splashing in the water. The house is right opposite Bull Creek Park, which has ancient trails, waterfalls and hiking routes for families to explore. For days out in the city, kids will love The Museum of the Weird, the Thinkery Children’s Museum or the Austin Nature & Science Center.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5-6 months is preferred. Safety notes: this is Texas and nature's critters are part of the ecosystem here - upon occasion you might encounter a snake, small scorpions, spiders, etc. This is a 2-storey home, but there are safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. Parking is available for 4-5 cars on the property but there is no street parking (and no public transport, so car rental is advised). The property is on septic, which is regularly maintained. The rates include weekly housekeeping, lawn care and bi-monthly pest control. A crib and high chair are available upon request.

About the Location

The house is located 15-20 minutes’ drive from downtown Austin in Texas. It’s around 25 minutes from Austin Airport. This area is 5-10 minutes from daycare or schools and 5-10 minutes from various HEB and Whole Foods markets. It's a great area where you can be close to downtown, yet feel like you are in the country when you are at home, close to trailheads, parks and nature reserves. It’s a short drive to many restaurants, stores, public libraries and play gyms.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Downstairs, there’s an open and light play room and a contemporary eat-in kitchen (with a dining table for 6) which leads to a larger dining area and the sophisticated living room via archways. You’ll also find a screened porch for outdoor dining and a lovely study with great views. There are lovely views to treetops from every upstairs bedroom, and views to yards in all the downstairs spaces. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed; the children’s room has a twin bunk bed; the other 2 bedrooms have queensize beds. One bathroom has a steam shower and there are 2 bathtubs (one deep and one for kids).

Style Notes

Inspired by nature. This 3800sqft home was remodeled with environmentally friendly and child-safe materials. It feels bright and light, with large windows, beautiful treetop views and open arch pillars separating the spaces to retain natural light in each area. Natural materials are used throughout, from wooden floors downstairs to wool and seagrass carpet upstairs. The host’s clean and minimal style is also punctuated with some great furniture, unique art and textile pieces. We love the wooden kitchen cabinetry, the playful kids room and the rugged stone exterior walls.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
