This characterful stone house in the heart of Barbizon, near the Insead school at Fontainebleau, offers a cultural stay in France, with museums and galleries to browse nearby and plenty for young children. Kids can play ball in the garden. A lot of local attractions are a short walk away; the house is central and just a 15 minute walk from the Fontainebleau forest.

Why Kids Love it

The house is well set up for young children and includes 2 cribs. The children’s bedroom has a lot of books and toys, and a little bike, a high chair and a baby bath are also provided. Kids love to play in the forest, a short walk away, and from the village, horseback riding can be arranged.

Things to Know

Minimum stays: 3 days. The house is set over 2 levels and does not have stair gates. No pets, no smoking. The garden is set up with a table, chairs and a plancha. Car hire is essential for reaching the destination. It is a highly walkable destination and is 10 minutes to the Fontainebleau forest for walking,running and climbing. There is a big supermarket a 10-minute drive away.

About the Location

Set an hour to the south of Paris, Barbizon is a village of painters, known for its association with Théodore Rousseau and Jean-François Millet in particular. The village has a lot of galleries to visit and 2 museums; there is also a bakery, restaurants and shops just 2 minutes’ walk away from the house. The closest major international airport is Paris Orly, around 40 minutes’ drive away.

This family home with a garden has 5 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and is set over 2 floors. It includes a living room, kitchen, dining room, plus bathroom with tub. The bedrooms are set up with 2 bedrooms for adults with a fullsize/double bed in each, 1 room with a twin bed, 1 room with a twin bed and a crib, and a nursery room with a crib. There is parking at the property.

Charming cottage. This old house has exposed brickwork walls, charming original feature and new additions following a recent renovation. The brand new kitchen and bathroom make a stay here easy while classic touches and countryside views make it relaxing and characterful. We love the village center location, the diaphanous drapes and the white shuttered windows.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
