My husband Steve and I fell in love with the Cape many years ago. We found ourselves drawn back time after time, driving through the night with our two boys still in their pajamas in the back seat looking forward to the relaxing days by the beach we would spend together. Ten years ago we decided to make Cape Cod our home. I am still discovering new and beautiful places, and smile when I drive along historic Route 6A past the rambling roses and hydrangeas bursting with blooms. I look forward to the changes that each new season brings. The long, lazy days of Summer... the color of the leaves in Fall and the crackling sound of the first fire in our fireplace, the beauty and tranquility of the first snowfall in winter, and waking up one morning after a long Spring rain and noticing that all is green again. We found our little cottage by the sea and spent the winter of 2010 designing and building our vision of the perfect Cape Cod get-away. Having rented before, we wanted to create a place where you could relax, unwind and enjoy from the minute you arrived. I hope you too will have many happy memories of sun-filled days and starlit nights and find as many reasons to fall in love with Cape Cod as we did!

We loved our stay here -- the house was meticulously appointed, cozy, yet elegant. So many sweet touches throughout that particularly thrilled our young children (all the wonderful games in the kid room). Eva dazzled us with a welcome basket, too. Just the loveliest way to start a trip. And Eva was so communicative and helpful every step of the way. Can't say enough about the location of the house -- we were within walking distance of so much! The strolls to the beach in the mornings and evenings were a highlight, as were easy jaunts into town for coffee and groceries. We also walked over to grab more than one lunch from Osterville Fish Too. Oh, also want to mention the bath toys -- our kids went bonkers for the sea life bath squirters. Made the end of the night easier for them for sure. We loved Barnstable and couldn't imagine staying anywhere but this gem of a beach cottage.

We absolutely LOVED our stay in August 2020 at the Sonny by the Sea - It was our favorite vacation house we've ever stayed in. Eva was especially helpful in answering all of my questions before I arrived, and really transparent on travel regulation updates and implications. She really bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable and informed. She asked for my children's genders and ages, and then left them special surprises in the house. The house was stocked with children's toys, games, etc. Barnstable was a really laid back town, it doesn't have the same hustle and bustle as some of the bigger towns. You can walk to a nice beach with lovely tide pools. When the tide is out, though, you do have to walk out quite far on the beach to be able to swim in the water. Great for shell searching!

We enjoyed the most wonderful stay at Sonny by the Sea. We were nervous to vacation during covid, however we needn’t have been. Eva’s home is meticulous. The extra precautions that Eva is taking gave me peace of mind, and as soon as we entered the home I saw that Eva probably keeps her home to this standard year round. It’s small, but beautifully designed and well thought through. And with the gorgeous yard outback and front, it was the perfect size for our young family of 5. Every consideration has been taken for her guests including a very sweet breakfast nook, a kids beach basket and a fully stocked kitchen. With 3 young children in tow, we wanted for nothing. The sweet little beach is a short stroll away, as is the local fish restaurant and causal fish shop. The walk into the main village was easy and enjoyable. We used the base for day trips to Martha’s vineyard, the drive in movies, P town and a host of other destinations. WiFi was strong enough for our kids to log in for school. We would absolutely return and recommend the home for anyone looking for a cape cod getaway. Eva is lovely to communicate with and was so generous with her time in considering our families needs. Thank you Eva!

We had a lovely weekend in the Sonny by the Sea Residence. The house was very clean and inviting, and our three kids, 3, 5 and 7yo, loved all the toys, games and kids’ kitchenware. The view of the sunset 5 minutes walking from the house is beautiful! We also enjoyed hiking in the two Mass Audubon properties less than 10 minutes driving from the house. Make sure to tell the hosts if you need hot water within the first several hours of your stay because it takes some time to get going. And if you’re a large family like ours, it’s best to take very brief showers to make sure everyone has enough hot water. Overall it’s a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Cape Cod.

Sonny by the Sea was our first Kid & Coe experience and it did not disappoint! We stayed with our 6 week-old and 2.5 year-old, so we knew we’d be spending a lot of time in and around the house with a newborn. It was perfect! There were beyond welcoming gift baskets for the kids and adults when we arrived, including bath toys that made my 2-year-old so excited she preferred to take 3 baths-a-day vs go to the beach. Ha! They provided everything needed in the kitchen, had great recos, and were extremely helpful and communicative. The light and bright decor and sunny backyard made the fact that we had to spend much of our time in the house vs at the beach (because of our newborn), incredibly enjoyable. I’d highly recommend a stay at Sonny by the Sea for a small family looking for a safe, cozy, beautiful home that’s walking distance to the beach.
