Perks for the Parents

A luxury holiday home for families with quirky sleeping pods and hotel-style extras, just 29 steps from Oostduinkerke’s sandy beach in Belgium. It sleeps up to 8 adults and 9 children (plus 2 babies in cribs). This home is perfect for parents who yearn to feel the sand between their toes - you’d struggle to find a vacation spot that’s closer to the beach. It’s modern and open plan, creating a spacious and contemporary layout that works well for large families, teens, multi-generational trips, or 2 families traveling together. It offers all the space and convenience of a self-catering break, with a few extras to make it easier on traveling parents - check out the treats, groceries, and mini bar, which will be stocked for you on arrival.

Why Kids Love it

This is a dream house for kids of all ages. They’ll find toys (including a train track, marble game, chalkboards, and there’s an amazing retro games console in the kitchen sleeping pods - ideal for independent kids who want their main draw here is the nearby beach: Oostduinkerke has the beach, and a public swimming pool. The whole area is also car-free during the summer and on weekends, so it’s really safe for kids to explore. Parents with babies or toddlers will be happy to find 2 cribs, bed rails, a changing table, children’s utensils, and high chairs. (Ask the host about babysitting services if you’re looking for some time away from the kids).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The hosts supply a few basics for the kitchen so you won’t have to rush out for food and drink when you arrive, including a bar stocked with a coffee machine (and high-quality coffee beans) plus all kinds of teas, as well as local dairy products such as cheese, yoghurt, and ice cream. They also have an honesty bar for locally-brewed beers, wine, and Belgian lemonade. The hosts can even order you additional items from local eateries on request, such as a cheese platter from De Beauvoordse Walhoeve, seasonal dishes from restaurant De Spelleplekke, or Bouillabaisse from restaurant Caricole. The hosts arrange the final cleaning after you check out, so you don’t have to do the cleaning on your last day. Parking is available, although car rental is not strictly essential - the local area is car free at weekends and the hosts have bikes available for guests to borrow.

The whole family will love exploring the high dunes of Sint-André, or a game of football on the beach - the hosts recommend a visit to Hoge Blekker, the highest dune on the coast, for spectacular views. You can also take water sports lessons down at the local beach club. Take a trip out to the NAVIGO National Fisheries Museum or the natural sights in the surrounding areas of Koksijde - from a swamp forest to a dune massif - ideal for cycling. Style Notes

Contemporary comfort. This home-away-from-home has a luxurious hotel-style feel, with all the space you’d expect from a large family house. From the Lafuma beach chairs and the Meraki soap, to the Auping beds and the minimalist exposed wooden walls, it has all the elements for a stylish yet relaxed vacation. In need of a break? Plop yourself down in a beach chair on our south-facing terrace and lounge in the glorious sunshine while the kids play. We love the modern industrial-style kitchen finished with sleek stainless steel, the contemporary terrazzo tiling in the bathrooms, and the black-and-white color palette which creates a pared-back, calming atmosphere.

I am a 'Benelux citizen', born in 1978 in Zeeland (NL), at the age of 18 I moved to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg where I lived with great pleasure. Love brought me to the Belgian West Coast in 2008 where the fairytale continued .... I am the proud mother of Roos and Sil. We all enjoy living so close to the beach and it makes us feel happy.
