Perks for the Parents

A woodland cabin in Cap Ferret, France with a forest, beaches and restaurants all just minutes away. It sleeps 12. This quirky house is perfect for a family stay. Parents can bring along the grandparents or a nanny, or share with another family - the kids will love sleepovers in the bunk rooms. Each floor has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom so everybody can have their own space and privacy. In the garden there are many different areas for children to play safely while parents relax in the lounge chairs, and there’s a large terrace on each side of the house: on the forest-side terrace you can enjoy the sun while having breakfast, while the south side terrace is perfect for lunch and sunbathing in the afternoon.

Why Kids Love it

Children will love playing with the kids books and toys in the living room or in the spacious garden, where they’ll find football goals and a swing. There is also a cozy sofa corner area in the basement (with a double sofabed) where children can play games or watch a movie. Older children and teens can play safely in the forest outside the house, climbing trees or building forts. The Cap Ferret area is perfect for children of all ages: visit one of the many beaches, go on a bike ride, take a picnic down to the ocean, try a surf course... the possibilities are endless.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. Safety notes: the house is safe and very child friendly but there are no stair gates on the wooden staircase. The ground floor door can be closed to separate the stair case from the living room and keep little ones in sight. There is space to park outside but car rental is not strictly essential as this area can be explored on foot or by bike. Please note: there is no aircon and no TV here.

About the Location

This residence is located in Claouey, near Cap Ferret in south west France, between Bordeaux and the Atlantic coastline. The neighborhood is very quiet and the closest beaches are 15 minutes' walk or 5 minutes by bike - guests can hire bikes in Claouey. The village also boasts a harbor, several beaches, a hiking area, popular oyster bars, restaurants and shops. There’s a tennis club 3 minutes away and it’s walking distance to a supermarket. In the summer months, there’s a local market every morning in the village. Bordeaux airport is less than an hour’s drive.

Style Notes

Forest cabin. This classic Cap Ferret cabin-style house blends perfectly with the surrounding woodland, making the most of the natural views. Completely renovated in 2021, the hosts have chosen bright, simple and minimalist interiors to create a calm space: white painted floors and cozy vintage furniture and rustic wooden textures are relaxed and inviting. We love the simple white fireplace (and the stylish chopped wood stack), the understated low level kitchen and the nature-inspired artwork.

Treasure hunts, safari treks and wine

Beautiful Bordeaux is much admired for its wine and thankfully its vineyards are well set up for families with plenty of options to entertain the kids while you test the city’s famous grape juice, including iPod tours and treasure hunts, hands-on blending sessions and safari treks spotting local wildlife amid the vines. In the city itself, there are so many places to play, from skateparks and riverside sports facilities to cycle paths and the Miroir d’Eau, a reflective pool opposite the Place de la Bourse.
