This bright, spacious family home sleeps up to 6 and is ideal for a family with two school-aged children and a baby. Recently featured in a local design magazine for a story entitled "Great Spaces," the Mapleton Avenue Residence is exactly that. The owners collaborated with renowned architect Steve Perce of BLDG Collective in 2008 to open and expand the floor plan to create an integrated indoor/outdoor family friendly space with clean, modern lines. We love the hardwood floors, Carrara marble, and original artwork throughout. The open plan kitchen and living area opens to a spacious, fully-enclosed backyard complete with dining patio, gas grill, and lounge chairs beneath tall maples that provide shade in the summer. Parents can relax with a good book on the outdoor lounge chairs while children enjoy the provided trapeze swing, jungle gym, and sports equipment. The formal dining table adjacent to the kitchen seats 8 and is an inviting space for families to enjoy home-cooked meals, chat, play games, and reconnect. Kids will love the cheery, separate single children’s bedrooms with plush rugs and colorful bunting that share a bathroom. Three horizontally-joined wooden doors from the original 1923 structure provide privacy open to the master suite with a spectacular 12' wide, floor to ceiling window. After a day spent exploring Boulder Falls, shopping along Pearl Street, or skiing in nearby Vail or Breckenridge, parents can retreat to their private ensuite bathroom to relax tired muscles in the thermostatic rainshower and the Duravit soaking tub.

What we love

  • The central location steps from the trendy shops and restaurants of Pearl Street and the safe, walkable, tree-lined neighborhood streets are perfect for family strolls
  • The architect-designed, modern design touches merge seamlessly with inventively repurposed antique pieces from the original 1923 structure
  • The two private children’s bedrooms with plush rugs and colorful bunting are ideal for hanging out and playing games, yet also provide quiet, separate spaces for undisturbed rest
  • The designated children’s bathroom and ensuite master bath allow privacy for both parents and kids
  • The bright, cozy living room with a comfy sectional sofa invites families to sip cocoa around the fireplace on chilly nights
  • The finished, carpeted basement filled with colorful children’s artwork includes a second sectional sofa and a large collection of children’s toys and games for keeping little ones entertained on rainy days
  • The safe, fully-enclosed backyard with a patio and lounge chairs is perfect for grilling out while supervising kids enjoying the jungle gym, trapeze swing, and sports equipment
  • The luxurious master suite has a comfortable king bed and an attached private bath with dual sinks and a Carrara marble counter, a glassed in thermostatic rainshower, and a Duravit soaking tub for soothing tired muscles after a long day of skiing or exploring the city
  • There are three full bathrooms-kids have their own bathroom with a shower/tub, and there is an additional downstairs bathroom in the living area
  • The quiet office workspace keeps parents connected to work and home

Things to know

  • 5 minutes to central Boulder by car, taxi, or shuttle
  • 45 minutes from Denver International Airport and 8 minutes from the Boulder Municipal Airport by car, taxi, or shuttle
  • Boulder offers a public bus system and plenty of bicycle and multi-use trails. The downtown area is walkable; however, car hire is recommended for day trips and travel to the surrounding communities
  • 2 story single-family home
  • Child safety considerations: The backyard is fenced-in and the house is child-friendly. Be aware that there is a steep staircase as well as hardwood floors throughout the house except in the master bedroom and the downstairs playroom. Stair gates are not included
  • One off-street parking space is available in the driveway, and plenty of free, unlimited street parking is available
  • The master bedroom has 1 king bed, and each of the two children’s bedrooms has 1 twin bed. The 2 twin beds can be used as separate beds or combined to make a king. They can be set up either in the office, which has a full bath attached, or in the finished basement playroom. A crib is available upon request
  • Children’s bicycles and scooters available upon request
  • In lieu of an air conditioning unit, many Boulder homes have a whole-house evaporative cooler with a thermostat and is installed in The Mapleton Residence
  • This residence does not allow pets
  • The house is a quiet 5 minute walk from Downtown and the shops and restaurants of Pearl Street. Whole Foods and a gourmet market and wine shop are a 10 minute walk. Boulder, Colorado

Gateway to the Rocky Mountains

At the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills, Boulder is frequently ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States for its consistently sunny weather, fantastic outdoor recreational opportunities, environmentally conscious residents, and abundance of public parks and green spaces. Head downtown to the Pearl Street pedestrian mall to watch street performers, ride the free Tebo train for children, or cool off in the Pop Jet Fountain. When the snow begins to fall, head to nearby Eldora Mountain Resort or take a day trip to Vail or Breckenridge for world-class skiing and snowboarding.
