Perks for the Parents

This stunning seaside villa in St Lunaire, Brittany has beautiful beach views and direct access to the beach and sea, and a separate studio apartment for additional guests. Take the whole family for a classic Brittany escape to the picturesque town of St Lunaire, where you’ll find traditional French restaurants and a range of excellent food shops and open air markets, all within walking distance. For keen golfers, the Dinard Golf Club (the 2nd oldest golf club in France with stunning sea views) is just 5 minutes away, and there are many different beaches dotted along the coastline to visit each day. For multi-generational families, or parents traveling with a nanny, there’s even a separate studio space for 2 guests, so there’s enough space for everyone to relax and recharge.

Why Kids Love it

While the house comes with a range of board and card games for kids, its prime attraction is an excellent range of activities to keep them entertained nearby. Take them down to the rock pools accessible at low tide to search for crabs, or paddle in the shores of the emerald sea. The area is great for families who love the outdoors - there’s an excellent sailing club with classes and equipment rental, two surfing clubs, an equestrian centre, and a local tennis club with 8 outdoor clay courts - and the hosts have body boards, a paddle board and kayak at the house for guests to use during their stay. For rainy days or trips out, kids can visit the micro zoo or aquarium in Saint Malo (around 30 minutes’ drive), visit the fortified city Saint Malo, visit Cancale (world famous for its oysters) or the Mont St Michel, or sail on a historical rig in the Bay of Cezembre.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The hosts will accept bookings from 1 family group or 2 small families maximum. Safety notes: the front terrace overlooks the sea - children should be supervised at all times outside. The house has direct access to the beach via a set of stairs accessible from the terrace (secured via 2 gates and one door, one of which can be locked). Parking is available outside but car hire is not strictly essential. The residence comes with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV (with Apple TV and Home Cinema sound system) and WiFi. Beds in the house are Simba Hybrid mattresses.

About the Location

This residence is located on the Pointe du Decolle in St Lunaire on Brittany's 'Emerald Coast' in the north of France. This area is in between St Briac and Dinard and also very close to Saint Malo and Mt St Michel. It’s 15 minutes away from the local Dinard/Pleurtuit airport, and 2 hours from Nantes LFRS International Airport. St Malo is 30 minutes’ drive, for ferry terminals (with regular service to Portsmouth in the UK) and a train station (which has direct fast TGV trains to Paris in 2h30 minutes). The house is right on the coastline, with lots of sandy beaches and rocky coves nearby - this area features the largest tides in Europe, and the scenery is very dynamic. Nearby Dinard offers its popular Plage de l’Ecluse, known for its picturesque striped beach tents, as well as shops, art galleries and further dining out options.

Style Notes

Contemporary coastal. This historic stone villa was built nearly 100 years ago on the famous Pointe du Decolle, and has been entirely renovated in 2018 in a modern style. The hosts have blended contemporary styles - including the neutral wooden floors and sophisticated tiled bathrooms - tastefully with the original features, such as the old stone walls, long narrow windows, and pitched roof ceilings. We love the wall of patio doors in the living space (creating stunning views over the boats dotted around St Malo/Dinard bay), as well as the sleek sophisticated kitchen and the warm pops of mustard tones used throughout.

Brittany, France

Wild and rugged

The northwest corner of France is wild and rugged, dotted with sandy beaches and filled with activities for children of all ages. From crashing waves and surf beaches to sea life centers, ancient castles and teeming tide pools, the coastline and the activities you can pursue along it is the major draw. Inland, farms, standing stones, local markets, museums and treetop parks ensure that whatever the weather, there is something to entertain the whole family.
