Perks for the Parents

This exclusive contemporary house next to the Neusiedlersee has a swimming pool and sauna, along with a fantastic lakefront terrace. The property is ultra modern in design, with elegant rooms, modern fixtures and fittings and clean lines throughout. Plenty of equipment can be provided for children, including toys, bikes, helmets and craft materials. The junior bedroom is ideal for a nanny and connects with the children’s bedroom via a common playroom.

Why Kids Love it

This is a great house for water-loving older children - along with the swimming pool, the house comes with 2 stand up paddle boards so children can explore the lake channels in front of the house. There are 2 bedrooms for children, one well equipped for younger children but note that they will need to be supervised around the water and waterfront terrace. The streets are traffic calmed which means that kids can play outside.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week from May-September, 2 nights for the rest of the year. Children will need to be supervised around the property - the house is by the water with no fences to prevent children from falling in. The pool (12m long, 1.5m deep) is not secured by a fence. Floating noodles, arm bands and float boards are provided. Pets are not allowed in the house. Smoking is strictly forbidden. The pool can be heated in the winter for an extra fee. The boat house is accessible for the guests - a Master Craft boat can be rented for an additional fee but guests must have a license.

About the Location

The house is in a quiet residential area right next to the Neusiedlersee, a UNESCO world heritage area in Burgenland, eastern Austria. It is approximately 60 km from Vienna itself and 20 minutes by car from Vienna airport. Nearby attractions include lakeside vineyards, skiing in the alps, cycling and hiking routes. It is a quiet area with plenty of countryside to explore and a plethora of lakeside activities including watersports.

Accommodation Details

This 250 sqm house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus a boathouse and is set over 1 ground-level floor. The main living space includes a lounge, a kitchen and a playroom connecting the 2 children’s rooms. There are 2 bedrooms with queensize beds, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds and 1 bedroom with a bed suitable for a young child (1.6m long). Two of the bathrooms have a shower and 1 has a bathtub. There is a guest toilet. As well as the 12m pool, there is a large waterfront terrace and a sauna and wellness area.

Style Notes

Ultra modern. The residence was newly built in 2015 and is very modern in style and architecture. It is elegant but at the same time simple, making it easy to live in with kids. All surfaces and floors are kid-compatible, and there are views of the water from nearly every room. Quirky objects include a proscuitto machine in the kitchen. It is a unique property in a residential area built on the water drains next to the Neusiedlersee, a UNESCO world heritage site. We love the clean lines, the sleek kitchen and the waterfront terraces.

We are a patchwork family of 6 (mum, dad, 2 boys from first marriage (25 and 28) and 2 girls from second marriage (11 and 13). Half colombian, half austrian. We love to spent our holidays at the lakes, doing waterski and tavelling on the boat. As a typical austrian family we like skiing, and as colombians we like music and to dance. That is why one of the girls looks austrian and the other one colombian - it sums up who we are.

Burgenland, Austria

Futuristic wineries and lakeside pursuits

On Austria’s eastern edge, Burgenland is a popular destination for active pursuits: hiking, cycling, thermal spas and skiing, to name a few. Take the kids to experience futuristic architecture in its lakeside wineries and don’t miss the castle route for fairytale inspiration. Lake Neusiedlersee itself is popular as a watersports destination, and there are theme parks, zoos and safari parks nearby to entertain the kids too.
