Near Place de la République in central Paris, this spacious townhouse has a boho-meets-loft living vibe and sleeps up to 2 adults, 4 children. It’s a large family residence, with splashes of vibrant colour and a shared courtyard garden with tumbling foliage. We love the quirky, world-traveller decor, including a large wooden painted door from India. The kids rooms are full of fun, with bunk beds, toys and games. The location is perfect for a family trip to Paris - close enough to experience it fully, but allowing you to retreat from the action when you need to. Great for families of all ages, it's steps from the buzzing Canal St Martin area.

What we love

  • This residence has style: bright painted walls, stripped pine floors, Indian wood carvings and unique and interesting trinkets
  • The courtyard garden is all tumbling roses, olive trees and vines, with café-style seating for an alfresco coffee
  • Cool, calm and collected is the best way to describe the master bedroom with its stripped floors, Minimalist look and cloud-shaped headboard
  • The kids rooms are a riot of colour: both have bunk beds (one is inbuilt) and plenty of toys and games
  • There’s also a single kids room with Indian-inspired decor and a daybed
  • The double-ceilinged kitchen and dining room is light with an industrial feel
  • It leads down a few steps to a snug and cozy lounge
  • There is one large family bathroom, tiled and with a double sink, bath and shower and a separate shower room and toilet

Things to know

  • Just 5 minutes on foot from the Place de la République and 10 minutes from the Centre Pompidou
  • There are 3 metro stations nearby: Goncourt, Republique and Parmentier
  • Around 30 minutes by car from Charles de Gaulle airport and 50 minutes by public transport
  • An extra small folding bed can be added
  • There’s bike rental station on the street close to the residence
  • The property has gated entry and is very secure
  • Note that the historic nature of the property and the doors to the courtyard can result in occasional leaves, dust and spiders
  • No parking nearby - but you don’t need a hire car in this part of Paris
  • The area is quiet and family-friendly
  • The stairs aren’t gated and there are steps down from the dining room to the lounge, not ideal for crawling babies
  • Guests can borrow 3 bikes from the owners (2 kids and 1 adult)

We are a family of 5 (a girl and two boys) . Our house in Paris reflects our personnality : a joyfull mix of things we gathered during all these moving years. We love nature, woods, unsual poetic objet, eclecticism. We like to travel (Sicily, Alpes, Thailand, Egypt, Costa rica, Florida, Lisbonne...) and still have much to discover in family . We speak french, italian, english and a bit of spanish. By joining Kid and Coe, we thought that being in a house instead of an hotel is a way to understand more of the way people live with the idea to meet others family in others part of the word. A warmer and more personal experience.

Canal St Martin, The 10th arrondissement

Where boho families play

Just north of Le Marais, this is the new playground of the boho generation. Young families ride around on bicycles and picnic by the canal. The metro on the revamped Place de la Republique nearby will take you anywhere in no time, making this a great family holiday spot. You’ll feel like a true Parisian.

The house and location turned out a perfect stay for us in Paris pretending to live like Parisians for a few days with our kids. The house was great to hangout in between exploring Paris with our 9 and 11 year old.

The experience of living in a house that children live in was much much better than staying in a hotel, especially in Paris where most hotel rooms are tiny. Communication with the owner was excellent. She helped us with every question we had about our journey. When we arrived she gave us all information we needed for our staying at the house. The house itself is amazing. If you like high ceiling, open space houses this is the place you need. A house with great taste, easy to live in, and in a great area. Although it was freezing cold outside, the environment in the house was cosy. Hot water was available at all time. The area is great. Speakeasy bars, nice restaurants , and interesting stores to shop for adults and kids in walking distance. I would like to come again during spring or summer so I could enjoy the yard as well. The house is highly recommended.

This is such a beautiful home to stay in, and the neighborhood is perfect. Communication was easy, arrival was simple, and her brother even walked me to the shops so I could pick up a few things. The home is so comfortable and perfect for my stay with an 8 year old and a 1 year old and my mother. It was a pleasure and I would happily stay here again!
