Perks for the Parents

This incredible villa, built in 2012 on the French Riviera, is truly a slice of ‘la belle vie’ with a large pool with views, lush gardens, separate studio and scooters, bikes, a workout area and a playroom for the kids. It sleeps up to 15 +3 babies. This house is ideal for big families that need their personal space but also have room to come together in the sitting rooms and with al fresco meals on the terrace overlooking the pool. Rooms are big and beautiful, yet supremely comfortable. The basement can seat 8 to 10 people and boasts a 75-inch screen with access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV in addition to the French cable. The house is located next to tennis club (2 mins by car), a pony club (8 mins), and a big playground with a merry-go-round. A short walk away is the famous, must-see Etang de Fontmerle that is the home of hundreds of ducks and protected waterlilies.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will be free-range here and have so much fun. The playroom in the basement is fully equipped (and child proof) with plenty of books and toys, train sets, dolls, a pretend kitchen, big blackboard, swing, tent, and a hopscotch rug. It’s a space which can keep kids (little and big) entertained for hours – especially helpful in the morning when the parents want to sleep in a little bit longer or during the very hot hours of the summer. Outside is the pool and (in the shade) is a trampoline and a play house (these can be moved easily if you prefer to have the full petanque space). There is a vegetable garden full of aromatic herbs, peppers, lemon and tomatoes. Kids can plant, pick or water from that little piece of heaven (end of spring to summer). There are also 4 scooters, 2 bikes and many, many small tennis rackets.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 weeks. A security deposit of €20k is required, due to the outstanding nature of this beautiful home and its contents (fully refundable on check out, after review). Safety notes: the pool is ungated and accessible from the house and there is a balcony – young children will need supervision. There is an indoor garage that can be used in the summer as a gym studio – it includes TRX suspension trainers, yoga mats, sand bags, exercise and medicine balls and kettle bells and a personal trainer can be hired upon request. There is super high-speed internet (fiber optic) and cable TV. Cribs, travel beds, a changing table, baby bath tub, sterilizer, highchair and all other necessities for babies are available on request. A cleaner and a gardener will come once a week but any additional needs can be accommodated and will be charged accordingly. There is plenty of parking space. The bakery is 15 minutes’ walk along a nice shaded canal or a 3-minute drive. A supermarket, wine store and other amenities are all 5 minutes’ drive away. All bed linen is from The White Company, London.

About the Location

This residence is situated just outside the charming old village of Mougins in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The old village of Mougins is a car-free area with a playground and a cute grocery store for local / organic treats. It’s amid rural southern France yet just a short drive (15 minutes) to the glamorous beach resorts of Cannes. It’s centrally located for a stay on the French Riveria with easy access to beaches and perched medieval villages. You will be 1 hr, 15 mins from Aix en Provence and 1 hr, 30 mins from St Tropez. The beautiful wineries of the Var region, Monaco, Eze, St Jean are all about 45 minutes by car. Don’t want to drive? The closest bus stop is 5 minutes’ walk away with a direct access to Cannes, Mougins and Valbonnes. The house is a few minutes away from a big park and right on the path of the Siagnes Canal (ideal for runners). Nice airport is the closest and is about 30 mins by taxi or car.

Accommodation Details

This 6-bedroom, 7-bathroom house has a large reception area that opens up into the garden / pool / terraces and another large lounge area in the basement complete with a playroom and cinema room. All bedrooms are spacious and have their own ensuite bathroom and closets. The main floor has an open plan double reception that opens into an outdoor sitting area and dining area. The double kitchen is fully equipped with 2 fridges, 2 freezers, 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Also on this floor is an extra-large master bedroom with a jacuzzi and rain shower in the bathroom and walk-in closet. Upstairs is a kids’ dormitory with 5 single / twin full-size beds with a closet and bathroom. You can find 2 additional rooms on this floor (the Mediterranean Room and the Atlantic Room), both with kingsize beds, ample closet space and ensuites. The Atlantic room has a balcony with views over the Esterel and the old perched village of Mougins. In the basement is the kids’ playroom and 1 guest room (the Tropical Room) with a kingsize bed and sitting space. The 6th bedroom is an independent studio (accessible from the garden) with a kingsize bed, kitchenette, a small dining table, TV, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. Outside is a private pool and gardens.

Style Notes

Big and beautiful. The hosts have taken care to design their French villa with a fresh and contemporary style which also retains the charm of the south and its lazy summers. The open plan lounge is an attractive space with huge linen sofas, a large TV and a lovely fireplace. It leads into an impressive stainless-steel modern kitchen complete with an island breakfast bar and a back kitchen. The entire space opens out onto the terrace, creating a wonderful flow from inside to out. In the basement, a large play and chill-out area has been laid out for the children along with another sofa filled space for the adults to relax and big rugs keep the space cozy. The kids’ dormitory is great fun when they’re all together and has a turquoise pop of color and soft toy bunnies. We love the master bedroom with bay windows that open to the garden with a view of the pool and the Esterel mountains; the magical gardens with a fountain and pétanque; and the designer interiors.

Payment policy
A security deposit of €20,000 (by bank transfer) will be held by Kid & Coe for the duration of the guest's stay and returned after check out pending host review.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
