This 4-bedroom, family-friendly home with a pool, hot tub and sauna is walking distance to several family-friendly surfing beaches and within 20 minutes’ drive of San Diego’s many attractions. It sleeps up to 11. Guests will find staying here with kids a breeze – glass doors in the living room become an open wall to the yard to maximize indoor / outdoor San Diego living. There is an art space, plenty of books and toys and a pool to splash in. Parents will appreciate the master suite that’s in its own private wing with a hot tub and infrared sauna. Kids will sleep well here with blackout blinds in their rooms. The outdoor shower helps with the sandy transition from beach to pool.

Why Kids Love it

The hosts have 3 active children under 10 so this residence is well equipped with essentials such as step-up stools in the bathrooms, a high chair, dinnerware, 1 full-size crib and a bunkbed. Inside the house is a dedicated art space where small guests are encouraged to pin their creations. There are board games, ping pong, plus soccer and baseball equipment, musical instruments and a kid-size kitchen in the kitchen. Outside is a playhouse with climbing holds, the sandy beach within walking distance and 2 parks within 0.5 miles. If all else fails, the popular VG Donut & Bakery a 15-minute walk away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The house is multi-level connected by several short sets of stairs that are not gated. There is an option to place a gate at the top of the longest staircase. There are some sharp corners around the fireplaces where young children should take care. The pool and hot tub have childproof safety covers. Pets are welcome for an additional fee upon approval. Please note that a hypoallergenic dog usually lives in this house. The driveway can accommodate 2 large vehicles or 3 small cars and there is plenty of street parking. A beach parking pass is included in the stay. A car is recommended to explore the area. NOTE: A 10% city tax (+ 1.5% processing fee) will be charged separately on the total cost of the stay when a booking is accepted.

About the Location

This residence is in the quaint town of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, San Diego County, California, a small community in the thriving spiritual and surfing center of Encinitas. The family-friendly San Elijo Beach is a 10-minute walk. Cardiff State Beach, which is excellent for surfing and snorkelling, is a 10-minute drive. The house is in a quiet neighborhood but is close to the freeway to get to San Diego in 25 minutes and San Diego International in 30 minutes. Train stations for Amtrak, the coastal train and several bus lines are nearby.

Accommodation Details

This is a multi-level 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom home. On the ground floor is a living room with a guarded open fireplace. A split staircase leads to a middle level with an open plan kitchen with an island and a dining table seating up to 10, plus a laundry, snug / library, kingsize master suite, and guest bathroom. A deck off this level contains the hot tub and infra-red sauna with steps down to the pool. The third floor has 3 bedrooms: 1 queensize office/ guest suite with an ocean-viewing deck and full bathroom, 1 kids’ bedroom with a full / twin bunkbed; 1 queensize bedroom with a full-size crib, plus 2 family bathrooms with a tub. Outside is an enclosed yard with a saltwater lap pool, outdoor shower, BBQ and play structure.

Family-friendly, bright, spacious beach house in a quiet neighborhood. This cozy and comfortable modern home comes with everything you might need for a family stay with plenty of fun extras. Furnishings and décor are relaxed with wood floors and colorful rugs. Sip wine by the open fire, eat dinner outside in the yard or relax in the tub while the kids are asleep. We love the surfboard on the wall, the record player and vinyl for a family dance party and the walkability to local markets, surf shops, coffee bars, library, parks and beaches.

Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We just spent the most enjoyable week at this very special house. Cardiff-by-the-Sea is a wonderful community and the house is in a super friendly neighbourhood. The house is fantastic, full of fun toys wherever you turn and has a super cool vibe to it. Foodies will love the kitchen, full of every cooking gadget imaginable, cook books galore and both a gas BBQ and a Big Green Egg Kamado Grill outside. The outside space is a dream for adults and kids alike. We loved the pleasant walk to the beach and Seaside Market from the house. Jason was very welcoming and friendly. We were all very sad to leave and hoping we will be back soon for another visit. Highly recommend this house!

Our family loved staying here! Beautiful home with a creative and unique design. The backyard was a dream for the adults and kids. The playhouse over the pool, outdoor ping pong, corn hole and play areas were a hit with our family. We loved hanging in the family room watching movies and playing games. So many cool board games and toys available for the kids to play. The location is FANTASTIC! We walked into town everyday to grab coffee or food. The local market is amazing and a must! Beaches are so close and the house provides lots of equipment to bring along. There's a park that's just around down the road that the kids also loved. You're so close to other beach towns and its super easy to get around. his home was perfect for our end of summer vacation.

Jason's family home is nice and spacious in a friendly and quiet neighborhood, and we appreciated their tips for things to do. The kids loved the toys and the art room. The town Cardiff is beyond family friendly. We loved walking to the town, parks and beaches. There did not seem to be any hotels in the area so a house rental is the way to go, we feel lucky to have been able to see a slice of life in Cardiff.
