This large apartment in a recently restored building is quiet and yet in the center of Catania, overlooking a wonderful castle and in the gastronomical heart of the city. Rooms are large and comfortable. The residence has a home cinema and winter garden plus 3 bedrooms each with private balconies. The square facing the building is full of good restaurants where you can taste excellent traditional Sicilian dishes and good wines.

Why Kids Love it

This welcoming family home is directly opposite a castle and has a living space with room to play. There is a home cinema in the winter garden, allowing families to watch movies under the stars. There is a theme park not too far from the center of Catania and beaches are a 15-minute drive away. A crib is available for babies, with a high chair, kids dinnerware and other baby items on offer too.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. The flat is on the first floor without a lift, but the stairs are not steep. The building is quiet. There is car parking on the street and parking is not a problem in the area. Heating, air conditioning and fan systems are used throughout, and beds carefully chosen with untreated natural wood.

About the Location

The residence is in one of the best locations in Catania, directly in front of the Castello Ursino and walking distance from restaurants, venues, tourist sights and the main square. It is 15 minutes from Catania airport and 3 hours from Palermo airport. The historic market "La Pescheria" is just around the corner and just a few steps away you will find the Duomo, Via Etnea, Roman amphitheater, opera house and Amenano River. Five minutes’ walk takes you to a bus station with connections to Siracusa, Taormina, Ragusa, Noto, Agrigento, Palermo.

Accommodation Details

This ancient family mansion has 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have a balcony with breakfast table and a view of the castle. The other has a balcony but no view. There is a large kitchen and dining room and a hall-living room area plus winter garden with ornamental plants and a skylight. There is a mezzanine level with sofa, home theatre and projector. There are 2 bathrooms, 1 with a bathtub, and a laundry room.

Style Notes

This elegant apartment is a blend of modern - chrome fixtures and fittings in the kitchen - and ancient - original tiled floors - and has a wonderful view of the castle. The furniture is made from original pieces and is a mix of ancient and original (1800 and 1900) and contemporary design. White walls reflect the light and make a perfect backdrop for bright Moroccan rugs and details. We love the cinema room with its original fold-down cinema seats, along with the unique art and arty ornaments.

I am an architect , working and living in Catania, on historical center. I love my job and I consider it very exciting because it gives me the tools to analyze the cities that I visit. I love Brazil and Brazilian music (MPB), I also love jazz. I studied piano and when I do I like the jam sessions with friends in my home. I love the cinema, reading, and good wine. Self Catering Sicily is a Tourism network which I founded becasue, as traveller, I would like to help other traveller to make them to feel at home when they rent an holiday house. Part of the network are the owners of the house that I propose, who I know personally. My agency creates connection between good houses, good services and good guests. All this makes a good marketing. I select and inspect houses in Catania and the whole Sicily, offering support and suggestions at guests. I work directly in Catania center and i'm trying to expand my businnes in the whole Sicily. Welcome to Sicily

Catania, Sicily

Piazzas, palaces and markets

Sicily’s second largest city is a bustling place of piazzas, palaces and markets and is set on the coast with plenty of wonderful beaches within easy reach. Explore the ruins, the castles and the cable car up Mount Etna; seek out puppet theatres, the theme park/water park Etna Land and indulge in that Sicilian favorite, granita.
