Perks for the Parents

This renovated canal house is in the medieval heart of central Amsterdam and has views of the Noorderkerk and canals. Walking distance from Anne Frank House, an organic farmer’s market and the famous Nine Streets for great shopping, it’s in a great location for a stay in the center of the city. Sit on the patio and enjoy a morning coffee and a newspaper in the morning, while looking out over the historic 17th century canal houses.

Why Kids Love it

This house is set up for families and has a children’s bedroom with queensize bed, toys and games including cars, trains, Lego and books. A crib can be added on request. The open family living spaces make it easy to relax and play together. The bathroom has a tub and shower. There are plenty of places to see and visit a short walk away, from museums and cafés to canal tours. There are 4 playgrounds in the neighbourhood (under 10 minutes' walk) and the Westerpark is 20 minutes' walk away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. This property is on the third and fourth floors with no elevator and has stair gates from the kitchen to the stairs that go down to the bedrooms and bathroom. A crib can be added on request along with a high chair. The fireplace in the lounge has a guard. Despite being in the city center, it’s quiet at night - and the birds will wake you up in the morning.

About the Location

The residence is in the Centrum, central area of Amsterdam. There is no need to hire a car - many sights are walking distance from the residence, and Amsterdam’s public transport system is easy and reliable. Cycle rental is easy to find nearby and is the most fun way to get around. The property is 20 minutes by car/taxi from Amsterdam Schipol airport. There is a farmer’s market, shops and cafés nearby.

Accommodation Details

This 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom family home is set over 2 floors in a tall canal house. Bedrooms are on the lower level, with the living room and patio on the top floors. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed while the children’s bedroom has a queensize bed. The family bathroom has a bathtub and shower. The main living space is open plan with a large family kitchen plus dining table, and a living room with windows onto the canal.

Style Notes

Light, bright and modern. This reworked historic canal house is modern and airy inside, with stripped floorboards, a hot pink sofa and fun modern art. The dining area - part of the large family kitchen - has Philippe Starck Louis Ghost chairs and a Stokke high chair. The patio is above the living room and has sun most of the day. We love the location, the fresh modern look and the atmospheric views.

We're a couple with a 9 year old and 3 year old son. We love to travel and live like locals on our trips. We cycle everywhere in the city, that's the way to go!

Just wanted to thank you again for letting us stay in your lovely home. We’ve just returned from one of the best holidays we’ve had as a family and our stay in Amsterdam was certainly enhanced by all your tips and recommendations. We managed to do so much in just a few days and the apartment was the perfect base for our excursions – incredibly central but blissfully peaceful too. The boys really appreciated having so many new toys to play with although apologies for leaving them in a more muddled state than we found them. Hope it didn’t take too long to sort out.

We absolutely loved this apartment & our stay in it could not have been better. This is a beautiful, interesting home with plenty of space & gorgeous views in both directions. The location is perfect, walking distance from the main station if you are coming in by train from the airport & it is a very nice, upmarket neighbourhood - which is also very peaceful at night. The kitchen has everything you might need, there is a lovely bakery at the end of the street & a supermarket very nearby. Winkel, which apparently serves the best apple pie in Amsterdam is 5 mins away. Our children are 13 & 9 & the children's bedroom suited them fine. Communication with the apartment owner was great & very easy, she was extremely pleasant....she had friends meet us on our arrival who could not have been nicer. I would recommend this apartment very highly, it was a privilege & a joy to stay here.

Centrum, Amsterdam

Historic and atmospheric

This famous circuit of canals, museums and quirky streets in the heart of old Amsterdam has beautiful 17th century town houses and brightly-painted canal boats. It is historic and atmospheric and a great location for a family stay, being walking distance from Anne Frank House, an organic farmer’s market and the famous Nine Streets shopping district. Even better, there is a café and restaurant on every corner.
